On the 14th, the Korea Entertainment Producer’s Association announced that the 29th Dream Concert will be held at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium on May 27th (Sat) as the official closing performance of the 2023 Climate Industry International Expo.
Dream Concert, the longest-running and largest K-pop concert in Korea, started in 1995 and has featured a total of 559 teams, attracting a cumulative audience of 1.6 million people. As the first concert to be held continuously for 28 years, this year’s Dream Concert will continue its record with its 29th performance.
This year’s concert will be held in Busan, which is known as one of the candidate cities for the successful hosting of the World Expo, a festival referred to as one of the world’s top three alongside the Olympics and World Cup, in the hope of promoting the success of the World Expo. Additionally, the “Dream Rookie” project, which selects the best K-pop rookies, will be held at this year’s Dream Concert.
The Korea Entertainment Producer’s Association stated that through the Dream Rookie project, they will discover new artists and provide them with a stepping stone for overseas expansion. The “Dream Rookie” vote to select the best rookie is being held via the Fancast app since the 10th, and it is divided into two categories: “Sophomore (2nd year/2021 debut)” and “Fresh (1st year/2022~present debut).” The selected teams will perform on stage with an award ceremony.
In the “Sophomore” category, candidates include Mirae (미래소년), BLITZERS, Billlie, YEAHSHINE (예빈나다), Just B, TRI.BE, PURPLE KISS, and PIXY. In the “Fresh” category, NINE.i, Lapillus, 8TURN, CLASS:y, and FIFTY FIFTY are among the candidates.
Voting will continue until the 23rd, and the final selected teams will be announced on the 25th. With the news of the Dream Concert’s announcement, attention is focused on the lineup, ticket reservation period, and price. The lineup and ticket reservation schedule will be announced later.
