Incheon is a city on the border of Seoul, South Korea and it is undoubtedly the nation’s transport hub. The city is known for the sleek, futuristic Incheon International Airport with railway connections to central Seoul, as well as an inbuilt hotel, casino, spa and golf course. Indeed, the airport is what first comes to mind when people think of Incheon. However, the city has far more to offer than just the airport. Here are the top 3 places to visit in Incheon, including must-see destinations during your trip to Korea.
Wolmido Island is the ideal day trip, whether you’re staying in Incheon or Seoul. It is only 30 minutes by bus from Incheon Station and an inexpensive way of enjoying the colourful and exciting amusement park.
Rides include the famous Viking Ship, the 70-meter-high Hyper Shoot Drop and many other games. However, if you’re not a thrill-seeker, you can see the Wolmi Traditional Park and Observatory featuring many charming gardens.
If you are curious about the Korean take on Chinese cuisine then you should visit Incheon Chinatown, birthplace of the famous jajangmyun (black bean noodles). Here, you’ll find golden streets and buildings in Chinese architecture, Chinese convenience stores, museums as well as hidden gardens and pathways.
Whether you have an hour free or a day, you will be able to learn about the fascinating, and sometimes tempered, history that Korea and China share together. Moreover, you can dine at Gonghwachun, one of the oldest and most popular restaurants in the city.
