Sacheon, located on South Korea’s south coast between the cities of Yeosu and Tongyeong, is yet another must-see destination.
Although it is not as well-known as its neighbors to the east and west, it is still a vibrant city with plenty to see and do. It is growing increasingly popular, particularly in recent years, and the tourism infrastructure is improving. This travel post will feature only a few of our suggestions for things to do in Sacheon.
Riding the Sacheon Cable Car

Taking a ride on the Sacheon Cable Car is one of the best things to do in Sacheon. Sacheon, like Mokpo, Yeosu, Tongyeong, Busan, and other cities, has a cable car, and it’s a thrilling ride. The Sacheon Cable Car is unique in that it travels across the ocean to an island off the shore, then returns and ascends Gaksan mountain to near the summit before returning to the base. Without any pauses, the voyage takes about 20-25 minutes.

The cable car stops at the observatory at the peak of Gaksan, and it is recommended that you get down and tour the summit area. There are steps leading to the summit, and there is a nice boardwalk observatory near the summit with views of the wonderful surroundings around Sacheon.
Sunset at Seaman’s Cafe

The second item on our Top Things to Do in Sacheon list is to watch the sunset at Seaman’s Cafe on Sacheon’s Silan Coast. Sacheon is one of the best sites to see the sunset on the south coast, and Seaman’s Cafe is one of the greatest places to see it from. This is a floating cafe connected by a dock that is placed close off shore. There is a little rocky beach near the cafe where you can simply set up your tripod and obtain stunning sunset views that include the cafe, the water, and adjacent mountains.

Scenic Locations at Daepo Port
The second is a sculpture of a woman’s face in Daepo Port. This is a basic sculpture of a woman’s face, but its location at the end of a pier and right by the water has made it a favorite Instagram and photo site. If you arrive here around sunset, you will most certainly encounter a large number of other people snapping photographs, as this appears to be the most popular time to visit.

Namildae Beach

The fourth and final item on the top things to do in Sacheon list is to visit Namildae Beach. This is Sacheon’s biggest and most visible beach, and it soon fills up with tourists and locals alike throughout the summer months to enjoy the pristine waters of the southern ocean. There are a few eateries nearby, as well as a hotel right on the beach. There is also an Elephant rock on the left side of the beach, which is one of Sacheon’s most famous spots due to its shape like an elephant’s trunk.
