Spring in Korea is undoubtedly the most magnificent time of the Year. The weather is getting warmer. The sky is brighter. The trees are turning green. Flowers are blooming in every corner. It’s the best season to go out and enjoy beautiful blossoms with your loved ones.
The best thing about Spring in Korea is Cherry Blossoms. No matter where you travel, you’ll get to see Cherry Blossoms everywhere. In this article, I will show you five must-visit parks in Seoul to see fields full of Cherry Blossom trees. You don’t have to travel all the way to Busan or Jeju to welcome spring. All these parks are easily accessible via public transportation and are much less crowded than Yeouido and Seokchon. Hence they are the ideal place for picnics and day outings under cherry blossom trees.

1. Namsan Park (남산공원)
Namsan Park is one of the largest public parks in Seoul. Located at the bottom of Namsan Tower, It is also the most popular and most visited park in Korea. Namsan has the longest Cherry Blossom lane in Seoul, hence visited by many during the peak of Spring. The cherry blossom lane starts from the Namsan Library entrance and will take around 40 minutes to one hour to get to the top of the Namsan Tower. Not just Cherry blossoms but you’ll also get to see many other spring flowers like Forsythias and Azaleas on your way up. The park also has numerous picnic spots and hiking trails.

How to get there: The closest subway stations are Hoehyeon Station, Myeong-dong station, and Seoul station. From there you can either take a bus or taxi to Namsan Public Library. If you are taking the bus, get down at the “Namsan Public Library” bus stop. You can also use the Seoul City Bus or Namsan Shuttle Bus. (For more details you can check the following websites)

2. Seoul Forest Park (서울숲)

Seoul Forest Park is another famous hotspot for Cherry Blossoms in Seoul. Located between Han river and Jungnangcheon stream, Seoul forest park is a combination of four parks; Culture & Art Park, Educational Experience Park, Eco-forest Park, and Riverside Park along Hangang River. Even Though you’ll get to see Cherry blossoms everywhere I recommend you to visit Eco-forest park and Culture and Art Park to see lanes full of Cherry Blossoms. Since these parks are quite big, visitors have ample space to have a picnic under cherry blossoms.

How to get there: This park is easily accessible via Seoul buses (no.463, no.148). However, if you prefer to take the subway, The closest subway stations are Seoul Forest Station and Ttukseom station.

3. Seonyudo Park (선유도공원)

Seonyudo Park is yet a hidden cherry blossom spot in Seoul. Located on Seonyudo Island, this park is the first resuscitate ecological park in Korea, repurposing a former water purification plant. Compared to other parks in Seoul, this park is less crowded and is one of the best spots to enjoy cherry blossoms and picnics with a view of Hangang.

How to get there: The closest subway stations are Seonyudo station and Dangsan station. You have to walk for approximately 15-20 minutes from the stations to reach the park.
4. Nanjicheon Park (난지천공원)

Nanjicheon park is one of the five themed sub-parks of World cup park. Compared to the other four parks, Nanjicheon park is perhaps the least known one among tourists. Located along the Nanjicheon stream, this park is exceptionally beautiful during the Spring season. It is also one of the few places in Seoul where you get to see layered Pink Cherry Blossoms also known as King Cherry Blossoms. The park also has walking trails, biking paths, grass fields, and a playground.

How to get there: The only subway station close to the park is World Cup Stadium Station. Take exit 1 and walk for around 15-20 minutes. You’ll see signboards towards the park.
5. Boramae Park (보라매공원)

Boramae Park is one of the biggest and well known public parks in Seoul. It is quite popular among locals as the park used to be the site for Korean Air Force Academy. The park also includes a musical pond, playground, walking trails, tennis courts, skate parks, and many other multi-purpose facilities. If you are a flower person then this park is one of the best parks to visit during Spring. You’ll get to see all kinds of Spring flowers here. It is also another place to see King Cherry Blossoms in Seoul.

How to get there: You can either exit from Sindaebang station or Boramae Station. Both the stations are 10 minutes away from the park.
