One of the popular places in Daejeon is the Yuseong Hot Spring. It is a public natural hot spring located at the central point of Daejeon. It features two foot baths with 100% hot spring water that are free to access. The pools differ in depth and water temperature. One of the pools gets very hot which I don’t recommend you to stay in longer and the others are warm and have special stones to stimulate the soles of your feet. Moreover, it also features a vending machine for towels, fountains, streams, a water wheel, and colorful lighting. To add up, it is also equipped with benches allowing visitors and passersby to sit while dabbling their feet in the water.
According to the signboard beside the foot spa, the spring’s waters originate between 215 and 450 meters deep and have various minerals. The hot spring is perceived to be effective in countering many kinds of illness. It’s free to the public so expect to see many locals here.
Before entering the pool, you need to follow the instructions. First things first, wash your feet. You can try all the pools to feel the difference and choose which suits you best. After the footbath experience, rinse your feet in cool water, relax and have a small conversation with the locals who are also there visiting the place, if you want. 🙂
Before and During Pandemic
Yuseong Hotspring is a very busy place before the pandemic. Almost every day, especially during late autumn and early winter, many visitors come here as this is very accessible. Don’t be surprised if you see a cluster of older locals using the pools as they are the frequent visitors here.
However, the situation has changed as the pandemic is getting serious. To secure safety and to prevent the spread of the virus, the hotspring has been closed until today. There’s no fixed time as to when it will be open again to the public.
If you’re around Yuseong, try to stop by at Yuseong Hot spring. The hot spring is very hot yet relaxing and refreshing after you’ve soaked your feet. Enjoy the foot spa, it’s a great way to relax after a long day of traveling. It’s a nice spot to get your feet the break they deserve.
