Similar to other big and well-known cities in South Korea, Daejeon has several wonderful parks which are great for strolling, relaxing, and spending time with family or friends. One of these is the โYurim Park โ. Itโs a great park that makes you fall in love with flowers.
About Yurim Park
It is a popular park for people who want to take a walk, have a light outing, or have a picnic. You can also see a waterwheel, pretty lotus flowers, and unique statues and arts blended with the bright flowers. Itโs famous for the Chrysanthemum Flower Festival that is held every autumn. Many visitors come to see the colorful flowers and itโs quite busy and crowded during this season. In fact, it holds an annual flower festival in the spring and fall as well as other events throughout the year.

What to Expect
It is just a small yet beautiful park. And if you visit this place on one of the flower festival days, youโll like it even more as it turns into a more awesome place. I went there at some time in November, and the park was amazingly beautiful. There are creative displays like cartoon characters coated with flowers.
Benches are placed in some areas so if you want to take a break from strolling around the park, take a moment to sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery around you. Plus, there are photo zones set throughout the park, strike a pose and take lovely pictures just as lovely as the flowers that you see around. Also, you can see groups of people having some picnic, teachers and kids having field trips, and people walking their pets.
Attractions Nearby
Just a few minutes by bus from the park, you can get to Expo Science Park. And right across from it is the Hanbat Arboretum. One of the popular landmarks in Daejeon, Expo Bridge is also here. They light the bridge every night and it makes a stunning night view. The Yuseong Hot Spring, a public foot bath, is also nearby. It is roughly a 15-minute walk from Yurim park.

If you would like to visit Daejeonโs top universities including KAIST University and Chungnam National University, you can get there by bus or if walking is fine for you, then you can just walk as these are very near to the park. If you also want to grab some food, items, or necessities, right in front of the park is the Homeplus Shopping Center. Just cross by the underpass. Inside Homeplus, thereโs a coffee shop, ice cream store, cosmetics shops, shoe and clothing stores, and restaurants.ย ย
