Welcome to Yongpyong Ski Resort in the scenic province of Gangwon-do. Whether youโre pining for the slopes during the winter season, or looking for that perfect view in summer, Yongpyong Ski Resort is the place to be. Multiple hotels, restaurants, a water park, 28 ski slopes and one of Koreaโs most impressive cable cars. Furthermore, K-Drama fans will recognise Yongpyong from popular titles like Winter Sonata (2002) and Goblin (2016).
Why not try an all-inclusive ski package to Elysian Ski Resort, Gyeonggi, starting from just 55,000 KRW?

Stunning Views, All Year Round
Before we delve into the plethora of things on offer at Yongpyong, letโs take a look at one of the best views in Korea, as seen from the Mt. Balwangsan Skywalk at Yongpyong Ski Resort.

Alpine Ski

Yongpyong Ski Resort is one of several ski locations throughout the Gangwon-do province. However, Yongpyeong has a special history as the Alpine Skiing venue for the 2018 Winter Olympics, held in Pyeongchang. Furthermore, the resort ski season runs from November to March โ almost 5 months of skiing available!

I visited Yongpyong Ski Resort earlier this year during the summer, to enjoy the newly built mountain skywalk.
Mt. Balwangsan Skywalk
To reach the skywalk, you can travel via the gondola at Dragon Plaza. Dragon Plaza is located on the right-hand side of the ski slope entrance. There, you can purchase your ticket at the door and head on up. We visited on a Saturday evening and thankfully, did not have to queue up at all!

The gondola ride lasts about 15 minutes and the views are already incredible, even before reaching the skywalk!

During our visit, it started raining very heavily as we reached the top of the mountain. Honestly, it was surreal to see the view of the clouds below us.

At the top of the mountain, youโll reach the glass skywalk, where you can see immaculate views of the surrounding mountains and beyond. We thought all was lost, as the rain clouded our views, but then โ after 10 minutes of downpour โ the skies cleared and an Instagram-worthy sunset greeted us.
The Perfect Photo Opportunity

The skywalk was relatively empty to begin with and so photography was easy. There is also a lower viewing deck that we went down to before we took the gondola back to the resort.
Gondola Ticket Fees
- Adult Gondola Ride (round trip) โ 20,000 KRW
- Child (~ 12 years) Gondola Ride (round trip) โ 16,000 KRW

If you want to hike back down the mountain, you can purchase a one way ticket for 16,000 KRW (adult). However, if the weather is unpredictable, I highly recommend getting a return ticket!

Location & Directions
The resort is situated in Gangwon-do, approx. 200km east of Seoul. The easiest way to get there is to drive, but if that is not possible, take KTX train from Seoul Station to Jinbu Station. From there, its a short taxi ride up to the resort.
