If you are looking for a new restaurant to visit in Nonsan, then Wonsan Myeonok (원산면옥) is your best choice, since you can have the best galbi-jjim of the area.
Living in countryside does not limit us in finding restaurants that are as delicious as the popular ones in crowded and bigger cities like Seoul. Rather gives us the advantage of finding unknown gems. And this place, it is indeed one of these.
So if you like to do food trips, this gem is a must-visit. Now let us introduce you to it!

The best Galbi-jjim
This restaurant is actually known by locals. Not only because they sell various savory dishes, but also because it is quite affordable for its quality. The size of each of their dishes is also a great way to attract clients. Therefore, it is not a surprise that a lot of people visit this place.
Basically you can order one dish, and from there, you can share with your friends with no problem. Unless you have a big appetite that helps you to eat everything without leaving trace of the food.

However, what I like the most of this place are the quantity of the side dishes they give and the quality of each. I was so impressed! Not even in Seoul I felt this fancy without having to pay much. Not only they give you basic side dishes such a kimchi, but also uncommon ones like mashed potatos to accompany the meat.
That is definitely a plus to all they offer. And with this in mind, you might want to order the side dishes over and over again once you have finished them.
Menu
Get ready to fill up your stomach with all their foods!

If you are a meat lover, then this place might become your best discovery in Nonsan. The reason is that their popular dishes are of course done with meat.
The galbi-jjim must be one of the most ordered ones for sure, followed by the bulgogi (불고기). Other meaty dishes are the galbi-tang (갈비탕) and the seolleongtang (설렁탕).
On the contrary, if you are not a big fan of meat, you can order some of their signature cold noodle soups. Such as the mul-naengmyeon (물냉면), bibim-naengmyeon (비빔냉면) and Hoe Naengmyeon (회냉면).
It is worth to mention that you can buy additional side dishes, such as mandu (만두).
To accompany your meal, they sell beer, soju, coffee, etc.
Prices
As we mentioned before, this place is quite affordable taking in consideration its quality. Prices start at ₩8000.
Review
Galbi-jjim (갈비찜)
When I entered the restaurant the first time, I realized that this dish was not missing in any table. And no wonder why, it is not only so tasteful, but also its size make you want to order it without thinking twice.

The galbi-jjim is a steamed dish made with braised short ribs. Which has a soft texture that melts in your mouth with the heat’s help.
It is so enjoyable that you barely need to make any effort to remove the meat from the bone, it easily slips into your mouth and lets you experience the nicest texture of it. And besides that, the flavor that comes with it and the juices that are being squeezed while you eat, makes your mouth water.
No matter how much you eat of this dish and how full you are, the savor that is left in your palate, will eventually whet your appetite once again. We can assure that! Not for nothing, the galbi-jjim that (원산면옥) sells is the best in Nonsan.
Bibim-naengmyeon (비빔냉면)
This is definitely a dish that you must order during summer, because of how refreshing it is.

I have never thought before that cucumber could taste this good in any dish. It was until I came to Korea that I discovered how delicious the savor can turn by it.
This is one of the dishes in which it takes an important role. Because it adds a pleasant freshness to it. In addition to the boiled egg, which gets a really good texture due to the coldness of the soup.
As we give the hint, this are spicy cold noodles. The soup has a delightful spiciness that makes it addictive to eat.
And what’s more, the noodles have certain chewiness, that feel so nice as you munch it.
With this in mind, we definitely recommend it to those who love spicy food!
Mul-naengmyeon (물냉면)
This dish, was definitely my favorite.

When someone hear ‘cold noodles’ for the first time, can think that it might be a plain and tasteless food. But it is actually the opposite! This soup has so much flavor, that the more you eat, the more you start loving it because of it.
This cold soup is done with handmade thin noodles, which are also quite chewy. But the fact that it has that texture, makes it pleasant to it.
The freshness of this soup, definitely helps you to beat the summer!
Steamed Eggs (계란찜)
This is indeed a side dish that you must order!

Not only because the taste fits perfectly with the rest of the food, but also because by itself, it is pretty delicious.
But what I like the most, is that soft texture that feels good as you chew it. And also, feels nice when you dip the spoon. Specially when some of the juices come out because of it.
