Virtual trip to Vincenzo filming locations around Seoul

That K-drama all of us got addicted to in 2021. How many of you still can’t get over the very handsome Italian mafia consigliere Vincenzo Cassano. How many of you are still in love with the Chayenzo couple and how many of you are missing the very caring Cassano family. Well I’m one of them. For me It’s one of the best screenplays of 2021. The cinematography was exceptional. The cast was excellent . The plot was intriguing and so satisfying. From the main leads to supporting characters all of them did an amazing job portraying their characters and that’s what made us; the audience fall in love with all of them. This drama is a perfect blend of Suspense, Crime, Comedy and Romance.

To people who have no idea about this drama; Vincenzo (빈센조) is a 2021 Korean drama aired on TVN which also streamed on Netflix. Main leads are Song Joong-ki (Vincenzo Cassano), Jeon Yeo-bin (Hong Cha-Young), Taecyeon (Jang Han-seok). This drama not only gained popularity inside Korea but also outside Korea. Locally it ranked as the 12th highest- rated cable TV drama and Internationally It became one of Netflix’s top 10 shows during its broadcast. You know what is even surprising? Both the leading actor Song Joong-ki and the Director of the drama got nominated at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards for the “Best Leading Actor Drama” and “Best TV Director” while the drama was still airing.

So If you haven’t watched this drama yet, go watch it now. Definitely a series worth binge watching! And Vincenzo lovers, Let’s all hope there is a season 2 (Fingers crossed) . Till then let me show you some of the drama’s filming locations around Seoul.

1. Cheonggye Plaza (청계상가)

Cheonggye Plaza/ Cheonggye Arcade, known as “Geumga plaza” in the drama, is one of the main filming locations of the drama. Throughout the drama you’ll get to see this building often. It is where all the gold was hidden and also the home of Cassano family.

Specially in the 1st episode where Vincenso says he wants to demolish this building. In real life this place is an electronic market with an apartment building. This electronic market is one of the oldest electronic markets in Korea. It is also connected to the Sewoon Plaza which you will also see in the drama.

• How to get there: Closest subway stations are Jongno 3-ga and (Line 1/3/5 – Exit 12) Euljiro 4-ga (Line 5- Exit 3). Walk for about 5-10 minutes.

2. Seoullo 7017 (서울로7017)

Seoullo 7017 also known as Seoul Skygarden or Skypark is a public park built on a former overpass. Originally it was a highway overpass constructed in 1970 to connect western and eastern Seoul and later in 2017 converted into a pedestrian park connecting 17 pedestrian walkways. The park also has multiple gardens, terraces, eateries, shops and tourist information centers. In the drama you’ll see this park in episode 3.

Address: 33, Toegye-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul / 서울특별시 중구 퇴계로 33How to get there: There are so many entrances to the park and easily accessible via public transportation in Seoul. The closest subway station is Seoul station (Line 1 /4 – Exit 2).

3. Common Ground (커먼 그라운드)

In episode 5 you’ll see Hong Cha-young and Vincenzo Cassano planning their next mission against the Babel group while eating hot-dogs at a place surrounded with blue containers. How many of you knew that it is an actual shopping mall in Seoul?

Built using 200 blue shipping containers, “Common Ground” is South Korea’s first and world’s largest container shopping mall.

• How to get there: Get out of Konkuk University station (Line 2/ 3) exit 6 and walk for 2-4 minutes.

4. Yeouido Saetgang Pedestrian Bridge (샛강다리)

Saetgang Pedestrian Bridge is Seoul’s first asymmetric cable-stayed pedestrian bridge built connecting Singil-dong with Yeouido-dong in Yeongdeungpo-gu. In the drama you’ll see this bridge in episode 6. It is the place where Vincenzo comes after visiting his mother Oh Gyeong-ja (Yoon Bok-in) at the hospital.

• How to get there: Get out of Singil Station (Line 1/ 5) exit 2 and walk towards your right hand side.

5. Dongdaemun Design Plaza (동대문디자인플라자)

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), known as a cultural and exhibition centre is one of the iconic landmarks in Seoul. Built in 2014 by the world renowned British Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, Dongdaemun Plaza is the largest atypical building in the world. Vincenzo fans can never forget this place ever!! It is the place where Vincenzo Cassano meets Hong Cha-young in the last episode. It is also the place where they finally kissed. Hence definitely a place worth a visit!

• How to get there: DDP is easily accessible via Seoul’s public transportation. The closest subway stations are Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station (Line 2/4/5 -exit 1) and Dongdaemun Station (Line 1/4-exit 7).
