Youngdabang is a Korean experience in the format of a franchise restaurant. Not only do they serve one of the most traditional Korean dishes but also they are in the modern Korean culture of coffee.
Youngdabang (청년다방) is a franchise you can find spread out throughout Korea. In this restaurant, you can find not only Korean dishes like tteokbokki but also you can buy coffee at some of the lowest prices around.
However, since it is not specialized in coffee, you don’t see many people ordering from this menu. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it. An americano is only 1,500 won, a much cheaper option than any other franchises around.
What they are most famous for is their Tteokbokki. They have so many options with unique flavor combinations!
Their motto is nothing different from what I already described, “Too Much!”
Among the dishes that you can order, you can choose a main (tteokbokki), side dishes (that includes fried chicken, fries, and other Korean dishes), and the coffee menu.
The best thing for me was that you can choose the spiciness level of your dish. As I am kind of used to spicy food but don’t completely enjoy it, it was nice to have some control. I decided to go for the number one level, which was already pretty spicy.
To be fair though, the name of the dish that I ordered had “spicy” in the name (spicy room tteokbokki or 맵다 방 떡볶이). So, I am guessing that the other dishes do not have the same level of spiciness as this. But do not worry about it, they also have some non-spicy options.
There are literally hundreds of Youngdabang locations throughout Korea in almost every city. If I can find one in Nonsan, I’m pretty sure there is one in whatever city you are living in.
You can find the nearest location to you by simply searching “청년다방” on Kakao or Naver Maps.

Usually, all Youngdabang locations operate during the same hours, no matter the location. You can find them operating from 11 AM to 10 PM, every day.
Youngdabang was a great restaurant to try out some traditional tteokbokki in Korea. I love the dish and I love the fact that I could choose the spiciness level. Also, the toppings were great and made a difference. If you enjoy spicy food I’ll totally suggest the one that I tried which comes with a lot of cheese, sausages, and fish cakes.
