This Dongdaemun cafe is a tropical paradise in the heart of Seoul. At Jeonggeurida you will find a fusion of South East Asian and Korean flavors presented in the form of your favorite cafe items.
Finding This Dongdaemun Cafe
Jeonggeurida Cafe (์ ๊ทธ๋ฆฌ๋ค ์นดํ) was introduced to me by a friend. She said she spent hours on Naver trying to find somewhere interesting to visit. Finally she found this tropical paradise. The cafe has an interesting theme, with some great dessert options, plus a great view from the outside.
Theme
Jeonggeurida to put it in simple words is a tropical theme cafe. All the decorations inside resemble a forest, and they have real trees that extend until the second floor. The furniture also goes with the theme, being colored in brown and beige tones.
The second floor is my favorite spot to try to find seats. All the tables have a screen between them, any spot that you choose will feel very private.
To top it off, among the trees, pineapple, and coconut decorations, you will find a real bird! Unfortunately, I did not have time to ask the workers for its name, but it was certainly the main attraction there.
Not only is the inside pretty, but the outside also does not disappoint either. The cafe is right across the old Eastern city gate of Seoul (also known as Heunginjimun Gate), so you can enjoy the view of one of my favorite spots in Korea!
Menu
As a good cafe, Jeonggeurida has many options for drinks and desserts. I always try to get a set at every cafe I go to, just to have an idea of how fresh their baked goods are. And let me tell you โ I loved their cheesecake! It was the perfect amount of creaminess and sweetness.
The dessert counter changes daily, but usually, the cheesecakes and fruit tarts are there.
Speaking of which, to get into the theme, Jeonggeuridaโs bakers try to create a menu that incorporates fresh and dried fruits. So the fruit tart is a favorite, along with the signature menu, which includes a coconut and mango ade and shake.
As a general idea of prices, espressos and dalgona coffee range between 3,500 and 5,000 Won. For non-caffeinated drinks, you can find choco latte, dalgona latte, green tea latte, and even a black tea latte, all for either 4,500 or 5,000 Won.
They have a great selection of teas, from the ones we usually find in coffee shops to fruit teas, and those have an average price of 5,000 Won.
To complete the dessert menu, muffins and bread are also offered.

Conclusion
I loved checking out this cafe, it was interesting seeing a forest and tropical theme constructed inside a building that on the outside seems normal. Their drinks and desserts are great, and if you want a place to work or study this could also be a good option since their tables are almost completely private and with outlets on each of them.
