In the Rain is one of the most interesting bars in Daejeon. After entering through a red phone booth, you will emerge into a new world that is ideal for melting your stress away.
Entering the bar
The entrance to the bar is very unique. There are no door handles on this entrance. In order to open the door to the bar, you must go into the phone booth and lift the phone from the receiver. Then, the back of the phonebooth will open up and reveal a whole new world. Personally, I love this entrance! It gives me a magical, dream-like feeling.

Once the door opens, you will be greeted by a grass path with twinkle lights on the sides and cherry blossoms overhead. If you follow the path, it will lead you to the main bar area.
Decoration
I feel like the best time to come to this bar is once the sun has already set. The reason behind this is that lighting plays an integral part in the mood of the bar. All of the used vodka bottles have twinkling lights inside. Then, they are arranged in a very creative and pretty way. Overall, the lighting is warm but low, which adds the the magical vibe of the place.
Sitting in the warm light is an assortment of chairs and sofas. There is a counter where you can order cocktails. However, if you come here to enjoy dinner more exclusively, you can choose to sit at a table to the side of the bar.
Tables and chairs vary as there is no one single design for anything. You can get a fancy sofa or a normal chair with a special location. The design is optimized for each tableโs privacy and make you and your partner more comfortable. Weather you want to have a chill evening drinking with friends, or a more formal dinner date, you can feel comfortable here.
Food and drink review
Even though In The Rain is a bar, the food here is exceptionally good! I will come back here just to eat again, it is way too good for a bar. The menu includes various western inspired food from steak to pasta. The pasta here tastes like instant food and they reheat it. However, the other foods are super delicious, especially steak and tapas. The price of food ranges from 15,000 to 30,000 won, which is pretty standard for a nicer restaurant.
The drinks are standard and nothing too remarkable. Each drink costs between 8,000 won to 10,000 won. One good thing is that the menu has an English name for everything, however, in the description, it is all in Korean. However, the staff at In The Rain cannot speak English. So, it can be a problem if you do not know basic Korean. In general, they are nice and welcoming.
Moreover, ordering is fairly easy as well since you can just scan the QR code on the table and order food through your phone. And, there are pretzels for free as well. Before you can pick a seat and order, you will need to show your ID since this place sells alcohol, so make sure to bring your ARC or Passport!
