Taebaeksan Snow Festival, which is held annually in January, is a festival enjoyable to every age group. Visitors can experience massive snow sculptures, snow sledding with the splendid view of Mount Taebaek covered in a thick blanket of snow and having a cup of coffee inside igloo café.

Sculptures

A lot of enormous Greek Temples and their characters in snow sculptures can be seen in the snow festival. It is done by famous snow sculptors from around the world. At night, the sculptures light up with vibrant colors and it is surely a feast for our eyes. Thus, it will be better to go at night to view the sculptures. Nevertheless, to click a good shot with the sculptures, it is advisable to go in the daytime.


Igloo Cafe
Igloo café is one of the main attractions in the festival in which you can get a once in a lifetime experience of being inside an actual igloo. Also, you can warm up yourself while having a cup of coffee inside the igloo. You can literally feel all parts of your body being freeze and numbed because of the coldness. Consequently, igloo café provides a cozy place for you to take a short break yet having a unique experience.

Also, inside the igloo café, all the tables and chairs are crafted out of huge ice cubes!

Getting There
The Taebaeksan Snow Festival is easily accessible by car and also by bus. If by bus, you need to take an intercity bus from Dong Seoul Bus Terminal to Taebaek. Upon reaching the Taebaek Bus Terminal, you should take a bus bound for Danggol and get off at Youth Center. The Taebaeksan Snow Festival is at the opposite of the bus stop.
