The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Foundation (CEO Lee Jae-Sung) held the Seoul Tourism Cooperation Start-up Demo Day on November 26. On May 26, 2020, 12 start-ups were selected as cooperative projects. Their achievements were announced in the form of online and offline hybrids in Seoul.
Due to tier 2 social distancing restrictions, only start-up representatives were able to enter the Demo Day site, while judges, venture capitalists and other general visitors could access presentations, announcements and the main event online. Additionally, 1: investment matching consultations were held between venture investment companies and start-ups that participated in the event.
200 pre-registered spectators accessed the Virtual Seoul Platform to watch the Demo Day event, alongside 8 judges and 20 venture capitalists who conducted 1:1 investment consultations with start-up representatives. The judges’ panel included tourism professors, investment company representatives and other associates of the tourism industry.
‘Globallier’, a location-based travel app that offers real-time, personalised recommendations to its users, was awarded the Jury Prize, attaining the highest average score from the judges.
Lee Hye-Jin, head of the smart tourism team at the Seoul Tourism Foundation, said “we are proud that we can share the achievements of Seoul tourism start-ups that are leading change with creative ideas and technology despite the difficulties of Covid-19.” We will continue to discover and support excellent start-ups in the future and collaborate in various fields.”
