Seoul: Heaven For Vinyl and LP Cafes and Bar Lovers

Seoul city is always in the top of list of cities when it comes to trends. During these last years we saw many old fashion trends coming back. It’s true when they say that old is gold! What about discovering the best cafes and bars that have retro vibes and take you back in time? Here is a list of Vinyl bars and cafes that you should check out.

Traffic

Go to Traffic in Garosu-gil if you’re in the mood for some old-school vinyl music. Traffic, which is located near the end of this stretch of road, distinguishes itself from the other vinyl bars that have been springing up all over the place recently. This location existed even before Garosu-gil became the fashionable hangout it is today. You’ll be hard pressed to find someone in their twenties among your fellow patrons. The stacks of vinyl cover an entire wall, demonstrating what a seasoned, wise, and respectable venue this is. Traffic has a very beautiful vibe!

Seoul vinyl

More and more people are searching out the original LP sound, as shown by the growing number of vinyl cafés and shops. Seoul Vinyl, which is located in Haebangchon, is the second record store in the country to sell international vintage LPs. They’re known for playing hip-hop, R&B, soul, disco, and funk, among other urban genres. You get the itch to take one home after seeing the 3,000 LP records neatly lined up on a shelf next to large posters of N.W.A. and Earth, Wind & Fire. Throughout the week, special DJs spin, and on weekdays, you can also make song requests.

Hyundai card Vinyl & Plastic

The Music Library, which houses over 10,000 records and 3,000 music-related books, is strategically located next to another of Hyundai Card’s cultural projects, Vinyl & Plastic. Vinyl & Plastic, on the other hand, is available to all, unlike the Music Library, which is only accessible to those who have a Hyundai Card. The store’s media library is amazingly selected, with over 4,000 vinyl LPs and 8,000 CDs representing a wide range of musical genres. If you head to the second floor you will find a cafe. You can choose your own music and play it in a music player while enjoying your cafe.

Golmok Vinyl and Bar

The best reason to visit Golmok is for the music! While LP pubs are very popular in Seoul, this pub is not your average bar. DJs  in charge of music themes, this place did many  theme parties, such as Bob Marley’s birthday bash. Weekends are usually crowded, so plan your visit accordingly. Whiskies, vodka cocktails, and beer on tap are available at Golmok Vinyl and Pub. When it comes to food, the options are restricted. Unfortunately this place has closed in 2019. But it is definitely one of the best Vinyl places.
