Planning a trip to Busan? Then SEA Life Aquarium should definitely be on your itinerary. Located on Haeundae Beach, SEA LIFE truly encapsulates the magical beauty that Haeundae is known for. Stand face-to-face with sharks and stingrays, see jellyfish that glow in the dark and see a fun feeding experience with penguins and otters. Let’s take a sneak peek into this exciting place.
SEA LIFE Aquarium
SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium houses over 35,000 creatures of 250 species, including sharks, turtles, otters, penguins, tropical fish and more. As well as the main aquarium, SEA LIFE includes special themed sections like the Underwater Artist Zone, Sea-At-Night Zone, Bingo Zone (polar theme) and Fashion Zone.
One of my personal highlights was the sea-at-night zone. Did you know that jellyfish are the oldest multicellular animals on the planet? Scientists believe they first swam in our oceans over 500 million years ago. Here at SEALIFE, they display their most enchanting abilities, glowing pink, blue and even changing colour!
Up Close and Personal with Sharks
Another popular attraction is the Shark Tunnel, where you can walk beneath the largrest tank in the building, full of gliding turtles, fish and sharks. Despite their menacing reputation, it is really fascinating to see the sharks up close. It is a surreal privilege to see them swim above and round you!
The Smiling Face of the Stingray
Adventurous adults and children can go face-to-face with stingrays, as they glide across the glass. Similar to the shark tank, the aquarium is designed so that you can feel truly immersed in the pool.
Touch and Feel Rockpools
Inkeeping with the immersive experience, you can feel sea creatures in the palm of your hands. Touch the bumpy surface of a star fish, the shell of a hermit crab and even hold a shark egg!**
** Note: you mustn’t take anything out of the water
