This is a story of Romance in Rodeo, Gangnam’s most prestigious meeting place. Among the glitz and the glamour, can this humble writer find true love?
Romance in Rodeo: Cotela
After having exhausted from another evening stroll across the bridge that connects north and south of Seoul, I decided to return to the district known to foster lives that only arise in the dark. That night, I was in agitation from being in the center of a struggling mercenary endeavor of both literary and comedy. Which, at the end of the nightly stroll, brimmed one’s bosom with an impetuous urge to attempt any means possible to resuscitate the venue that may be on the brink of bankruptcy,
The destination of the return was clear. Cotela. It is a venue at the heart of Apgujeong Rodeo. Such a venue caters exotic, flamboyant, and delicious cuisine of Central America with its kaleidoscopic variety of alcohols and shots.
As stars of Seoul sky have been paying keen attention to this transparent soul with such a benign intention to serve the public with services and entertainment so far only limited to the world of English. There, at the entrance of Cotela, a damsel of dazzling beauty, perhaps from heaven itself, preceded my entrance.
Getting Lit in Rodeo
The venue was properly in a season with a worldly affair. It was a projection of the sport requiring much agility, speed, and endurance of lower ligaments -soccer. The place was filled with people. Enough space was present to raucously cheer for your favorite team. Or, for those who are more inclined to music, to dance without the risk of causing unnecessary contact. This writer was of the latter species. However, I engage in and enjoy movements strictly in a random fashion, no matter how fastidious judgment may be passed by the crowds.
While engaged in this ancient spiritual movement that may have appeared as a man of misfortune, or perhaps, of epilepsy, a gentleman, of a species quite different from this writer, generously rang a bell. The sound of the bell brought forth shots for all. And, thus the expedited process of intoxication began. Superadded to distilled wheat consumed, the effect of intense spirits immediately took an effect especially by neutralizing one’s timorous tendency of saving faces in public.
Thus, I marched on to initiate a conversation with the generous gentleman. And then, with gained momentum, quickly moved on to the gorgeous lady who preceded my entrance a few minutes ago. For the honor of the day, who deigned to share much thoughts and opinions on things of life both of her nation and of mine, I shall preserve her information as confidential.
The Boss B-Lady of My Dreams
It is a wonder how the most honest and transparent words are often exchanged in settings of spheres of ease, relaxation, and intimacy. As to indicate our inherent nature is benign. No words of fabrication were discussed, but only astonishingly true ones. Although the choice of subject was cliché – work, marriage, food, discovering each other’s philosophy in the selection of partners, I think, was a golden touch of this communication. The lady, being well established in the field of her industry, generously shared her preferred characteristics of a man. As long as a man is decent, she is willing to share the burden of pecuniary matters by earning of her own exertion.
In return, I complimented her, and expressed much respect by addressing her as ‘Boss lady’. To be honest, a misogynistic term of derogation nearly escaped this wretch’s mouth. But fortunately, I was one or two more beers away from committing such an atrocity.
After spending a quarter of the clock by its hourly indication, we departed in goodwill. The exquisite Seoul chauffeur was summoned to drive the lady back to her hotel. Then I returned to my venue, to await the first public transportation at dawn.
Romance in Rodeo: Will it Last?
The damsel’s shining grace in gestures and speech of celestial elegance still ravishes my memories. Although I have succeeded in securing the digits of her heavenly network, I am in endless quandary and hesitation about whether to bother the damsel or not. Alas, anxiety.
What shall I do!? To contact or not to contact, that is the question!
