When you think of new technologies, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Is it hybrid cars? New home gadgets that make life easier? Or, maybe even the new trendy LED masks? Well, here in South Korea technology in daily life is going a step further. There are more and more stores popping up that have no workers. You can now find so many places where a robot customizes your order!
At Laneige’s flagship store in Myeongdong, a robot can create a customized foundation for you. I mean, how cool is that!
You won’t get any headaches trying to find the perfect shade and formula. Their technology includes an AI sensor that spots your exact skin pigment. It then lets you know the closest shades that you can try out for yourself, or you can get a customized shade that will match your skin tone exactly.
You can also choose your skin concerns and control some of the ingredients that make up the product. That way, the foundation isn’t only makeup, it’s also skincare that is completely customized.
After that, as if you were in the factory yourself, you can see how a cute robot makes your foundation in front of your own eyes. It then delivers it to you!
However, what I really enjoy is the fact that they still manage to give it a human touch despite all of the robots and advanced technology. Once you get your product, the shop assistants wrap it up nicely for you. Plus, they include some amazing freebies that make you feel like a VIP
Reservation at Laneige Myeongdong
This service is very popular. And so, it does require booking prior booking through Naver. I advise you to go on weekdays since all weekend spots tend to get taken quickly.
For the robot customized makeup, there are two options. A 15-gram cushion is 45,000 Won and a 30-gram foundation is 60,000 Won.
Now onto everyone’s happiest part of the day, coffee! There are several different robot cafes in Seoul and each of them is a bit different. Most are in malls or along busy streets and are run by some very nice robots who work 24/7 making great coffee and other caffeinated beverages.
At most robot cafes, there are two machines. One is for placing your order, and the other makes the coffee, then hands it to you. However, there are some cafes where a third robot actually brings the coffee to your table!
The cost of these coffees usually doesn’t exceed the 4,000 Won mark. Which, makes them cheaper than the average manned cafe. Experience-wise, it’s worth stopping by and getting greeted by our hardworking, friendly robot barista!
