One thing you should definitely do when you visit Korea is renting a Hanbok. A Hanbok is a traditional Korean garment that has its origins in the 13th century and nowadays is worn on special holidays or events. But it’s also possible for you to enjoy this special clothing and borrow it for several hours if you want to!
Most rentals are located directly at the palaces, for example at the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul. You can find a lot of stores especially around the side streets there.
Once you have chosen a rental store, it is time to decide for your Hanbok. There are simple and more elaborate designs, which differ in the rental price. Usually a simple Hanbok design costs about 10.000Won for 2 hours. But you can also rent it for a longer time if needed. If you want to wear a Hanbok with a more special design, the price can go up to 20.000Won. Some places even offer photo studios inside their stores.

Often the employees help you to dress the Hanbok – you wear it over your normal everyday clothes. Afterwards you’ll get your hair done, which is included into the rental price most of the times. Men wear a traditional head piece instead.
Off to the palace! While wearing a Hanbok, the entrance to these kind of sights is free – you should take advantage of that! Do not miss the opportunity to take pictures in front of the beautiful scenery. It is definitely an experience you will never forget.
My tip: if you have the chance to stay in Korea during several seasons, why not rent a Hanbok and take pictures multiple times doing different season, such as spring or autumn? The cherry blossoms or colorful leaves change the mood of the whole scenery each time!
