Pureun Arboretum Botanical Garden is a hidden treasure planted with varieties of flora and amazing scenery. Pureun Arboretum is actually Seoul’s first arboretum, also known as “ecology island” which features various exhibitions and educational programs. Especially during fall, people love to visit the garden for maples sightseeing. You might be surprised because this place is not even a famous place among international visitors.
Location of Pureun Arboretum Botanical Garden
It is located in Guro-gu , about 20-minute walk from Onsu station (line 7 and line 1). Or you could also take Guro07 bus to get to the destination. Here i attach the map showing the exact location of Pureun Garden.
It is open from 5am to 10pm every day and the entrance is completely free. Many people living nearby especially families and elderly like to have a walk in the garden while enjoying the beautiful sceneries provided.
Sightseeing
The first thing we saw upon entering the garden was a huge lake with bridges of a unique structure. The bridges connected between two sides across the lake. There were lotus leaves floating on the lake and butterflies could be seen everywhere.
Apart from the lakes, there were many varieties of plants with their species and names written on each board beside them. According to Visitseoul, the garden is the home to about 2100 different species of plant life, and it consist of 25 different theme zones besides featuring a small book cafe and an education center which offers eco-friendly programmes. During fall, you could see the leaves of the plants turning yellow and red, forming a really lovely scenery to watch.
Throughout the garden, you could find many photo zones with beautiful natural sceneries.
Hangdong Railroad
Another interesting place you can find at Arboretum Botanical Garden is Hangdong railroad tracks. It is placed right beside the garden and famous among pedestrians. Hangdong railroad track was previously used as train track but now has become a famous Instagrammable photo zones welcoming lots of couples and photoholics. You could still see the trace of the history where the train station and sign showing the next destination is still intact.
Remarks
It will be definitely a chilling trip to visit Pereun Arboretum Botanical Garden and Hangdong railroad with friends or family. You could also enjoy your tea time in Garden Cafe placed within the botanical garden.
