Autumn is finally here! One thing we look forward to during this season in Korea is the arrival of pink muhly grass. You can find the grass all over Korea, sometimes in huge displays or hidden in neighbourhood parks. I recently visited Iksan, North Jeolla Province, famous for its natural display of pink muhly grass. Letโs take a look.

Sinheung Park, Iksan
We decided to travel to Iksan after hearing there were lots of pink muhly grass and other natural beauty. On arrival to Sinheung park, we were greeted by an enchanting castle lined with plants. It was wonderfully unique! Additionally, we did not expect to see such special installations at a humble neighbourhood park.

Also at the entrance were Egyptian sphinx statues lined with flowers.

Iksan clearly has some talented gardeners near by as Sinheung park includes pristine cut hedge mazes and sculptures, as well as 100s of potted chrysanthemums!

From here, we snuck a peek of the pink muhly grass waiting ahead in the distance.

However, we took our time following the garden pathway and admiring the rest of the beautiful plantlife. My favourite display was a plant sculpture of a horse and carriage, dotted with pink flowers. It is the perfect spot for a Cinderella-style photoshoot!

Pink Muhly Grass
We next made our way to the pink muhly paradise garden. You are welcomed along the way by adorable pink and yellow flowers.

The rainbow of chrysanthemums and pink muhly grass stretch right down to the lake!

The garden is not actually that big but is absolutely picturesque.

The Hidden Garden: More Pink Muhly!

If you wander down to the lake, there is a forest trail lined with potted flowers that leads to a hidden garden!

This garden is also full of pink muhly as well as other vibrant flowers. Here, there are benches and a gazebo you can rest under while you enjoy the scenery.

Conclusion
We had a pleasant time at Sinheung Park, Iksan. There werenโt many crowds when we went, so no waiting to take photos! However, by 11am the park began to fill up. Moreover, only an hour or so is needed to explore the park in full, which meant we could do other things in Iksan in the afternoon.

Location & Getting There
Iksan Station is a 30 minute train ride from my home in Nonsan, South Chungcheong. From Seoul, the journey is approx. 1h 15 minutes via KTX Rail.
