How to get to Oido Red Lighthouse
Having a strategic location close to the capital, Oido is interconnected to the Seoul subway network can be reached by taking Subway line 4. You can use Subway line 4 and get to the final station- Oido Station. Then, take the 30-2 bus to get to Oido Entrance. The bus runs at an inrerval of 30 minutes. Make sure to check the schedule if you donโt want to wait long.
What to see near Oido Red Lighthouse?
Lighthouse
The main attraction at Oido Sea is certainly the Oido Red Lighthouse. It is located right at the middle of the embankment road. Surprisingly, the admission is free! You could enter the lighthouse and climb up tp the observatory deck and enjoy a beautiful view of oido sea and the city.
Inside the Oido Marine Observatory, you could enjoy a free hands-on program that allows you to make attractive keyrings using seashells. Also there is a audiovisual reference room where visitors could learn more about tideland ecology!
For now, unfortunately, the lighthouse is not open due to spread of coronavirus. Visitors are not allowed to go in and the observatory deck is not available as well.
Embankment road with sea view
You could also walk along the embankment road near the sea while seeing the interesting sculptures and photo zones along the road. Otherwise, you could also rent a bike and ride along the bike path.
There is a electric-powered Eco bike rental shop which provides thre bike courses you could choose. The course that follows along Sihwa Embankment Road is the most popular and recommended course among all.
The Tree of Life
One of the most popular sculptures and photo zones is the Tree of Life. It is a large LED stand arranged in tree shape and it looks really amazing at night when it lights up.
Hwang-sae Rock Path
Another interesting checkpoint is the Hwang-Sae Rock Path, which is a bridge extending towards the sea. It feels like walking above the sea and you could see the sea as if you are at the middle of the ocean! A sunset view from there must be breathtaking!
A Padlock of Love tree is at the entrance of the rock path. Couples could write their names on a padlock and attach it on the tree as a symbol of eternal love. How sweet!
There are also a lot of food vendors lining alongside the road. You could get any street food like cotton candy, chicken skewers, corns, squids, and many more. You could even find a mini pirate ship ride near the main road.
