The meaning of Ewha
The name ‘Ewha’, which means ‘Pear Blossoms’ was bestowed by the Emperor Gojong the following year. Therefore image of pear blossom is incorporated in the school’s logo. Furthermore, the school began providing college courses in 1910, and professional courses for women in 1925. Not only that, the high school section now known as Ewha Girls’ High School also located not further away from the course’s buildings.
Ewha Womans University Museum
There is also Ewha Womans University Museum that is opened in April 1935. It has a wide range of artifacts, ranging from paintings, ceramics, crafts, folk items. In addition, its main collection is the Korean National Treasure white porcelain, iron and grape jars.

Not only that, there are a lot of TV-shows were also aired here, including Running Man. ECC is Korea’s largest underground campus from basement 6 to 1st floor. It is famous for its unique and sophisticated facade. You can also find a wonderful kind of-park located on the ECC. For sure, it is beautiful during autumn and spring when the flowers bloom. Besides, ECC also equipped with cafes and convenience stores.

This district features a number of stalls lining along the streets. They sell fashion items, such as clothing, shoes for ladies. I walked down from Ewha Womans University subway station to the main entrance of Ewha Womans University. And when I turned left, I found that there are various street of stalls. Besides that, the alley on the right side of the main entrance also has many designer shops as well.
A lot of tourists have visited this place per year just to enjoy the cheaper price to shop rather than Myeondong, Hongdae or even Namdaemun. Indeed, you can find a lot of cute clothes, make ups, skin care items, socks and even there are a lot of coffee shops that you can hop off for a 5-min tea break!

Special place for Muslim tourists, you can also find a Halal Chicken restaurant where you can enjoy eating various kinds of Korean-style of ‘Chikin’ from the spicy ganjeong, to the classic original fried chicken. With a reasonable price, you can surely experience Korean-style fried chicken like you never grab anywhere else, in a Halal way.
This shop is located in the main alley of Ewha Womans University street, where it is located in between an alley where you can easily find since the restaurant was coloured blue. With the sign “Yangpang Chicken” (양팡), surely you will not going to miss it.
If you are a Starbucks coffee lover, here are the chance to visit the first ever Starbucks coffee shop in South Korea, which also located along the main alley of Ewha Womans University street. It was first opened in 27 July 1999. Unlike other Starbucks coffee shop, you can feel different kind of vibes since the ambiance of the coffee shop is clearly different even if you see it from the outside.
