Noseongdang is a cultural heritage of Jeollabuk-do. Where you can find a shrine dedicated to the former leader of this zone. Which is called Impi. An area with vast of things to do.

Origin
This place was established in 1885. In the 6th year of King Cheoljongโs reign (์ฒ ์ข ). Where there is a shrine dedicated to the ancestral tablet of the former leader of the Impi area. By this, it shows the long story of this zone. Along with the nearby Impi Hanggyo ใ ก a local Confucian School ใ ก and Yeonji Rest Area.
Plus it is said to have designated the in and out of the Saechaengi ferry (Sinchangjin). Because of this, the list of the former magistrates and officials are preserved here. As memorial tablets to honor their service.

It is worth to mention that it was originally used as a Japanese police station. After 1905. However, the owner of this place ใ ก Yi Dong-seok ใ ก purchased it in 1945. And donated it to the Senior Citizens Association. In order to be used as a nursing home.
As expected, Noseongdang became a Tangible Cultural Heritage of Jeollabuk-do (No. 132) on June 30, 1990. Due to this, it is a must visit place.

Entrance
The vibrant colors of the gate, will surely draw your attention from afar. So as the beautiful and traditional architecture of it.
On the two pillars of the main gate, there are signs of the Impigyeong Presbytery and the Impino Cathedral, respectively. And on the left, there are three monuments. Related to the repairing of Noseongdang.

Interior
As we mentioned before, the building in which scholars once recited poems and enjoyed culture, is now a facility for the old. But the memorial tablets of the former prime minister are still here. By this, they keep the past alive.
It is worth to mention that in the old days, this place designated a person to manage and control various ships entering and leaving the port. Other duty was to determine the qualifications and living areas of the shaman. And call out those who are unfaithful to the elders as well.

This building is composed of six bays on the front. So as three bays and an octagonal-shaped roof on the side. Back then, there were five-story and four-story stone pagodas here. And a roof stone as well. But now, these work as stepping stones.
In addition, part of the roof stone is used as the foundation stone at Jinpyeonghoโs house. Needless to say, there are no pagodas anymore here. On the other hand, the two literary stones are 112cm and 150cm in size.

Although the structure and appearance of this building are simple, it is one of the best buildings. Among 19th-century government buildings. Because its neat design.

Seong-nae Village
In case you want to have a rural experience, it is worthy to walk around the Seong-nae village. As you can find many important buildings. Such as Impi Hanggyo, Noseongdang, etc. Plus tons of monuments. To get to know about the past.

Gubul-gil
This is the nationโs representative walking trail. Which is perfect for those who love hiking. Since the path leads you to a great experience with nature. In other words, this trail let us explore Gunsan without having to stay just in the urban area. And by that, they let you find some hidden gems. Because there is always something new to discover in the rural areas.
The countryside route is this one.

Yeonji Rest Area
In the old days, the leaders of the former Impi prefecture used to come here. Now, everyone can come and relax. Of course, you must take off your shoes before sitting there.
The reason to why is the perfect spot to rest, is due to the nature that surrounds it. In fact, the trees are mostly 200 to 500 years old. Plus, the lake makes the scenario look beautiful.
You can as well find some monuments that are dedicated to the spirit of Impi.
Impi Hanggyo
The highlight of this area is surely this institution. Since they have a shrine to honor the memory of Confucius. In addition, they have some programs in which everyone can participate. Such as four-character lecture, musical instrument experience, world heritage story, seasonal food, etc.

How to get there:
From Gunsan Station you can take bus no. 11, 12, 13, 15 or 16. And get off at the stop โ๊ตฌ์
ํ๊ฑฐ๋ฆฌโ. There, you must cross the street to transfer to another bus. You can take bus no. 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 or 66. And then, get off at the bus stop โ์ํผ์ฐ์ฒด๊ตญโ.
From there, it is better to use a map. Since it is in a neighborhood.
