National Hangeul Museum’s Photo Contest

The National Hangeul Museum’s Annual Photo Contest is underway. By taking a photo of Hangeul in your daily life, you can win up to 2 million won in prizes!

What is the National Hangeul Museum?

The National Hangeul Museum opened in 2014 with the purpose of promoting the linguistic and cultural value of the Korean alphabet, Hangeul. The museum is dedicated to explaining the story of the Hangeul, from its creation of it to its use in modern days, not only in South Korea but all over the world.

The museum has an exhibition hall, a Hangeul library, an auditorium, rest areas, and a wonderful garden that leads to Yongsan Family Park.

The Contest

This year’s theme is “Hangeul in my daily life”. Participants upload 1 to 3 photos of Hangeul they see in their daily life.

The pictures can be on anything that includes the Korean language. You can take pictures of the books you read, products like T-shirts, posters, paintings, etc. Photos in any exhibition that presents hangeul or even pictures taken inside the National Hangeul Museum are accepted. The photos must have been taken during the year the contest is being held. For example from January 1, 2022, until the due date of August 15, 2022

The Photo

The photo or photos you upload must have a title, description, and the date it was taken. In case you have people in your photos, you should be careful of legality, such as the permission of those being photographed. There is no limit on the pixel size, width, or length of the photo.

Conclusion

Previously I wrote about the reading contest made by the Literature Translation Institute of Korea. For that competition, you need to read one or more of the assigned books and later create either a written review, drawing, or video. Winners get to travel to South Korea or receive other prizes.
