Also known as Nami Seom(남이섬), Nami Island has become popular since the release of the K-drama “Winter Sonata” filmed at Nami Island. Furthermore, it offers beautiful scenery of nature that constantly changes every seasons. As a result, it has been welcoming thousands of local and international visitors each day into the amazing world on the island.
How to get to Nami Island?
Nami Island is located at Gapyeong, Chuncheon. There are several ways to get there. First, you may take a train of Gyeongchun line or ITX-Cheongchun line and get off at Gapyeong Station. Then, you may choose to either walk there in about 20 minutes or grab a taxi. Second way, you may take shuttle bus departing from Myeong-dong, Namdaemun and Insa-dong which directly takes you to Nami Island. However, the shuttle bus is temporarily not available due to the spreading of corona virus.

After arriving at the ticket counter, you need to buy a ticket which includes the round-trip ferry fare and entrance fee to the island. It costs 13000 won per adult and 10000 won per teenager.
Otherwise, you may enter Namiseom by using another thrilling method- Zip Wire! Riders start from a 80m high tower and slide 940m for approximately 4 mins until reaching Nami Island. It usually operates only from April to October depending on the weather each day. The fare costs 44000 won per person including the ferry fare exiting the island.
Things to enjoy
Upon reaching the island, what awaits you are walking paths with various scenery, beautiful ponds, adorable animals and many more. As an overview of the walking paths offered in Nami Island, there are Metasequoia Lane with Metasequoia trees lining on both sides of the luxuriant, exotic path, and Gingko Tree Land which the plants only bloom in autumn. Also, there are Cherry Tree Land, Korea Pine Tree Land, Tulip Tree Land and Red Woods Tree Land. All carry different colors and vibes, each of which is amazing.
There are also many ponds with different inside meanings scattered around the island. One of them is the pioneer of all ponds named Yonji Pond. It means to give blessing to every couples who visit the pond.
In the island, you could see rabbits and squirrels running around. As they are raised and let to be roaming freely in the island. There are also countless types of birds, geese turkeys, and even woodpeckers. There are also ostriches and deer which are particularly loved by visitors.
To enjoy Nami Island in an interesting way, you could rent a bicycle for 7000 won per hour and cycle around the island. This is indeed a brilliant choice because Nami island is really too big to be enjoyed by foot. They also provide tandem bicycle for friends and couples which will be extra fun and romantic as well!
