Myeong-dong Street

Myeongdong: Paradise for shopping and street food

Let’s head to the ultimate shopping district in Seoul, and the famous shopping destination not only for the foreign tourists but for the Korean locals as well, Myeongdong Shopping Street. Shopping, skincare and cosmetics products, restaurants, street foods, souvenirs, etc., name it, it’s all in Myeongdong.  That is why most people call it the paradise for shopping and street food.

Shopping paradise

Around Myeongdong Shopping Street, you can see these large shopping stores such as the Lotte Young Plaza, Lotte Department Store, Shinsegae Department Store. Shopping malls and department stores are everywhere.

You can find Korean Fashion Brand Stores such as Bean Pole, SPAO, Stylenanda Pink Hotel, and also popular international brand stores like UNIQLO, Adidas, Nike, H&M, New Balance, and so on.

Stylenanda Pink Hotel & Pink Pool Cafe

Stylenanda Pink Hotel is a trendy beauty and fashion brand. The theme of the store is a hotel. It is a 5-floor powder-pink hotel. There is a wide selection of cosmetics, clothing, and a variety of jewelry, hats, shoes, and bags displayed on the first to fourth floors of the store.

The Pink Pool Cafe is on the fifth level with an outdoor lounge setting with pink pillows on the rooftop. If you need to take a break from shopping, you can relax here before you go. The concept of the pool cafe is so cute and pleasant. It is really a unique cafe, a super cool store, and a fun stopover on Myeongdeong. I highly recommend this spot to those who are a fan of pink color and makeup.

Korean Cosmetics Brands

Myeongdong shopping street is a perfect place for those who love Korean beauty products. Looking for lipsticks, masks, cleansing foam, toner, moisturizer, you can discover various Korean cosmetics brands in the alleys. If you will go here, you can see cosmetics stores like Nature Republic, Etude House, Innisfree, Laneige, The Face Shop, Missha, Mamonde, Tony Moly, The Saem, and a lot more throughout the street.

However, many people are visiting the street, making it crowded every time.

Myeongdong Underground Shopping Center

Another large shopping center around the area is the Myeongdong underground shopping center. It’s connected to the major department stores in Seoul, the Shinsegae Department Store and Lotte Department Store. The underground shopping center consists of shops for K-pop collectibles such as lightsticks, albums, photos, and stickers, souvenirs, clothes, shoes, and more.

Many stores sell K-pop merchandise here. If you are a big fan of K-pop and love to collect albums or any other K-pop memorabilia, well, visit this place because they sell a lot of K-pop goods and related items here.

As for the prices of the products, is it cheap or expensive to shop here?

Well, you can go to different stores and compare prices all you want then you can choose which products you prefer. Some offer cheap, and some offer pricey. But during holidays, they are on sale, and offer discounts mostly on all their products. Nevertheless, each store sells products of good quality and will give you a lot of free samples when you buy.

Street Food Paradise

Besides shopping, you can also enjoy the night market in Myeongdong. During the nighttime, the whole street is so colorful, push-carts are everywhere selling different kinds of street food. Feed yourself with a variety of street foods like Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Korean Egg Toast, Spiral-cut potato, Tteokbokki, Fishcake, Bungeoppang, Hotteok, Grilled Cheese, Korean BBQ, Korean Corndog or Gamja Hot Dog, Roasted Lobster with Cheese, Fruit Juices, Ice cream, and others.
