Have you ever visited a pub? I personally didn’t go to any pub in my life, but I got a chance last week. It was because I got selected as one of the participants for a sponsored program. And I was given a coupon to use in the restaurant. They provide me 35,000 won and a limitation of three people for joining it.
And yes, as what had been shown in the title, it was the Sseom- ING restaurant which is located at Hongdae street. Actually, before this, I had passed by the restaurant before and it was super busy and noisy during the night. I guess it is kind of heaven for young people there. And it is not really hard to find it too. All you need to do is just get down at Hongdae Station and walk around five minutes and you can see it beside a busy street.
Address: Jandaro 3, Jandang-ri, Mapo-gu, Seoul, Korea
So, today I would like to share with you how I went there and what kind of reservation that I had did before visiting it. Since I was a selected participant, I was required to contact the person and reserve a time that I am able to visit it. And when I was reserving the seats, the people kept telling me that I need to queue up and wait for my turn patiently if there are too many people at that time. And of course, I agreed.
I had arrived!
So, I reached ten minutes earlier that day and I can see some people already waiting outside of the restaurant. It is located on the second floor and you can’t see anything from the outside because the windows are all in black. And I think they did that purposely so that people can’t see the situation inside it. And later you will know why I said that.
Once we stand behind the queue, a worker approached us and asked for our identity card. Because only adults can enter that restaurant. And after that, we waited for around five minutes and they asked me to go upstairs. All of the workers dressed in a really cute cartoon costume. And there is an entrance on the second floor where you also can’t see anything inside it. We were required to take the order first before we enter the restaurant. And for Friday and Saturday, the first order must be at least 25,000 won. So, I ordered a kiwi drink, chicken pieces, and a Tangsuyuk.
We also received some tokens!
After that, we were given some coins which is the token for us to play some games inside. And before we entered, they also said that we cannot cancel our orders once we entered and we also can’t take other people’s pictures inside. The only self-portrait is available. They wanted to keep their customers privacy.
And the moment we entered the restaurant, we were actually quite shocked. Maybe because it was our first time entering a pub. Laser lights and gases were anywhere. You can see there was a counter in front where there was a DJ who was singing and shouting, trying to make the atmosphere high and fun. And after we seat down, we saw a lot of young people who were playing games and shouting like they were drunk. The music beats were really loud until you can’t hear what people talked about inside the pub.
It is hard to take pictures there!
While waiting for the food, we also tried to take some photos. And due to the spotlights, we can’t take any proper and nice photos because of the lighting problems. There were also some games sometimes where all of the customers can play together. All of the customers from different seats will compete with each other and the person who won can get some tokens. By using the tokens, you can get discounts for the food, or get some little prizes, or even asked for a song from the DJ.
The food was not bad, but honestly, I was a little bit culture-shocked because of the condition in the pub. And although I had ordered a kiwi juice, I still can feel like drinking an alcoholic drink. You can see everyone shouting so high like nobody really cares what you do inside it.
I can only say that it is a suitable place for you if you wish to seek fun and crazy activities. It is definitely a good place for you if you wish to release some stress and enjoy fun moments with your friends. And even if you don’t really like a pub, it is still worth a visit at least once so you can know how Korean people spend their nightlife in a pub.
