Coming to Korea represented a complete 180-degree change. From the culture to the food, even the air that touched my skin! All of those changes meant that my body had to adapt, and in the process, there were a lot of different things I experienced. One of them โ was acne.
Skincare Evolution
Now, I will be completely honest. Before I came to Korea, I didnโt really care for my skin. Yes, I washed my face and sometimes popped my pimples, but it was never a necessity. But then, I started realizing that I could have the skin I always had wanted โbut never attempted to achieveโ if I started making skincare a routine.

I was told that I didnโt need to jump right into it. Some skin care products can be very pricey. Additionally, they can also be hard for your skin to get used to at first. So you need to start slowly, one step at a time. As a result, the first thing I did was start researching what to do.
My acne was the kind where you get bumps on my whole forehead. They werenโt even pimples, just bumps. Plus, I had very noticeable blackheads on my nose and chin that refused to leave. Even if I popped them away, the pores were so large it still looked like blackheads were there, even when that wasnโt the case.
Skin and Hair Vitamins
So, the first step for my skincare journey was to find some vitamins and supplements that would give my skin and hair a little more to feed on. Since my diet changed, some things that I used to consume on a regular basis back home are now only memories. So, I needed to add some vitamins into my system one way or another.

After doing some research and visiting several different pharmacies, I found some vitamins that would not only bring my skin to a more healthy state but would also help my hair and nails grow stronger. So I purchased some.
My skin started to feel better within two weeks. I have had to make it a routine to take the vitamins, but after battling with it, it is now something I have incorporated into my day to day. I am definitely loving the way it makes my hair shinier and my nails less prone to breakage.
Daily Cleanser That Targets Acne
The second step was to find a nice daily cleanser. I used to wash my face only with water. And so finding one that suited me among all the different kinds was very difficult. I needed something that would start getting rid of my bumps and blackheads without being too harsh on my skin-care-product-virgin face.
I found this one for a price that was not too exorbitant for me. It was cheap enough for me not to be completely broke after purchasing it. Plus, the fact that I could buy it in my neighborhoodโs Olive Young made it even better. The product has salicylic acid that, according to my research, helps with acne and other skin matters.
Moisturizer That Got Rid of My Bumps
And to finish, I started looking for a product that would help moisturize my skin, along with obviously helping fight the acne and bumps. I came across this particular La Roche-Posay cream that I apply after washing my face. It has significantly helped my skin get rid of the bumps, and it has also shrunk the size of my nose and chin pores, along with diminishing the blackheads that I once hated so much.
Now, my face is clear, my hair is shiny, and I have said goodbye to the bumps, pimples, and blackheads that once resided on my face and made me think I could never achieve the skin of my dreams. Well, I have now, so whoโs laughing?
