Mohing Steakhouse in Seoul

When it is time to pick out a place to eat, choosing a good restaurant can be daunting. In Seoul, picking a restaurant with a menu that includes great steak can be even more difficult. Let me introduce you to one of the best steakhouses in Korea: Mohing Steakhouse.

Welcome to Mohing

Mohing Steakhouse started out as Bistro Mohing near Seoul University Station (서울대입구역) before expanding to a second location near Naksung University Station (낙성대역). Both locations serve similar menu items, but in terms of locale, space, and ambiance, their Naksung branch takes the cake.

Located on the second floor in the Sharosu-gil neighborhood, the roomy Steakhouse offers not only the classic menu items from the Bistro such as pasta and risotto, but also juicy cuts of steak such as tomahawks and bone-in ribeyes. It is possible to get to the restaurant by public transportation. But feel free to bring your own ride and make use of their free parking instead.

Currently, English reviews are very sparse and hard to find for this restaurant, in part due to the location and in part due to the lack of English descriptions on their menus. However, do not let that discourage you as the menus do contain English titles for each dish, prices, and pictures. When in Seoul!

While there are not many English reviews, the Korean review of both locations are stellar, with the Naksung Branch bringing in 4.65 stars out of 5. Many reviewers comment on how delicious the food is, how kind the staff is, and even how it made a special night even more memorable (hint hint- nothing makes White Day better than some delicious food).

Mohing has been featured on multiple Korean broadcasts showcasing them as one of the top Steakhouses in Korea. Due to their popularity, we recommend making a reservation when possible. They only prepare a certain number of steaks over 1,100 grams each day, so reservations at least one day in advance are key if you have your eyes set on their signature Tomahawk!

Pasta and Pide

Do not be fooled by the title “Steakhouse”. Mohing serves much more than just steaks. In addition to steaks, Mohing offers a number of fusion food options, a brunch menu, pasta, salads, and more. They also have a very carefully selected wine list and various beers from around the world, perfect for lovers, families, and groups of friends!

Pasta

Mohing’s signature pasta is the crab meat cream pasta. It includes a generous serving of Korean red crab meat, fresh shrimp, a thick cream sauce, fresh mushrooms, and broccoli.

The dish arrives on a sizzling pan with plenty of cheese on top that melts around the edges into a delicious dish that is as appetizing to look at as it is to eat!

They offer three different variations of their cream pasta: crab meat, shrimp ricotta, and quattro cheese. If cream pasta isn’t for you, don’t worry! Mohing Steakhouse has a huge range of pastas and other delicious dishes to choose from.

Pide

Mohing’s Turkey Pide (and no, that is not misspelled) is a Turkish fusion style pizza.

Their handmade pides are made with fresh dough and is definitely a must try for any pizza lover. They have three types of pides: original (which is made using Turkish spices), aromatic arugula and shrimp, and savory quattro cheese. 

But what if pizza isn’t on your list of foods to eat? Mohing’s steaks will definitely hit the spot!

Steak

The signature steak item on the menu is the Tomahawk steak. Mohing’s tomahawk steak is comprised of a number of separate cuts of meat: galbi-sal (갈비살), ribeye (꽃등심), and saeu-sal (새우살). 

At Mohing Steakhouse it is possible to order the tomahawk and other steaks at various weights. However, keep in mind that Tomahawk steaks weighing over 1,100 grams will need to be reserved in advance.

Additionally, anyone who orders a steak of 1,100 grams or more will have an actual oak-wood fire prepared for them! Talk about a unique experience!

If the tomahawk doesn’t appeal to you, perhaps their thick, premium grade ribeye with it’s overwhelming flavor is what you are looking for instead.

Or one of their numerous other options such as salads, appetizers, or brunch items. Honestly, you might just need to visit more than once in order to try everything that appeals to you.
