If you are looking for beautiful and affordable places for weekend trips in Korea, let me introduce you to Seonyudo. It is a lovely little island located on Korea’s west coast offering comfort and peace to all who visit.
Getting to Seonyudo

Recently, I had the opportunity to get to know the island of Seonyudo. It is one of the largest and most famous islands located off the coast of Gunsan city. The place is great for hiking, walking along the beach, and admiring the view. It’s quite romantic, a good place for a romantic weekend getaway. The island is known for having one of the most beautiful sunsets in Korea!
To get there, we went by car. We left Nonsan, and it took about two hours to get to the island. We didn’t need to take a ferry, as there were bridges connecting all the islands. The road was very easy and calm.

When we got there, we came across a really beautiful place. There’s a lot of nature, and the beaches were clean and not too crowded. It had zip lines and guides to climb the local mountains. But if your’re not into adventure, you can just sit on the beach and admire the view.
Seonyudo Beach

My friends and I stayed at Seonyudo beach, the biggest on the island. Walking along the sand was quite cozy. And, you can even pick up cute seashells along the way! There are some decks and great spots to take pictures there.
Beachfront Restaurant

At lunchtime, we stopped to eat at a beachfront restaurant. It was called Namdobabsang (남도밥상). The restaurant was small and simple, but the food surprised me! It was so good!
This is a Korean restaurant and it was more focused on soup and seafood. However, that day, I chose to order a Tonkasu (fried pork fillet with rice and side dishes). And believe me, it was the best tonkatsu I’ve ever had! The dish was well served, the side dishes were delicious, and the price was fair. It was only 10,000 won plus an additional 2,000 for the coke I ordered. We even got a free soup. I would definitely go back there again!
Exploring Seonyudo Village

After lunch, my friends and I walked around the island a little more. It had a simple but very elegant village. Everything was beautiful and very different from the big cities. What sustains the island is marine life, so if you like seafood, I believe you will love the place! There you can find the most diverse types of seafood, all good and fresh.

Obviously, we had to stop at a selfie studio to capture the amazing time we were having there. We went to PhotoFit and it was a good experience. The place was clean and comfortable. It had several booths and a wide variety of accessories to make your photo more fun. In addition, this studio also had a super cute setting to take pictures with your own cell phone!
Then, after enjoying the view a little more, we headed home. The return trip, although long, was very smooth. I highly recommend this destination for a day trip. The place is amazing and we were super well received!!
