A good quality coat is one that lasts you a few years. While its no secret that coats can be very expensive, a decent one is certainly worth the investment. Think about it — the cost per wear is probably a lot cheaper than other pieces of clothing. Interestingly, coats are one of the few fashion items that are pretty resistant to trends. In other words, most people tend to stick to the tried and tested brands or classic styles they can rely on, no matter what’s on underneath. However, amongst the classics come experimental designs, allowing each individual to strut their way through the changing of the seasons.
The combined pressure of expensive cost and necessity can make finding the right coat quite stressful. What’s more, as the nights draw in and daily temperatures drop, the wide range of coats on the market gets even bigger. Therefore, it can be overwhelming to know which one to choose. However, to help you with your coat-hunting journey, I’ve put together a wishlist of some of my favourite coats.
INSILENCE WOMEN $$$
I only just discovered INSILENCE and it’s clothing line for women this year and promptly bookmarked it ahead of the autumn/winter season. Not to sound like Goldilocks but it’s been a long time since I’ve found a brand that fits me just right. Insilence releases a huge array of different designs to suit the individual consumer, each with a relatively reasonable price tag to match.
If I were to purchase a coat from INSILENCE WOMEN, my first choice would probably be the Classic Maxi Coat in CHARCOAL. Why? Besides the simple design and cut, I love that that the shoulders are neither too narrow or too wide and that the colour is versatile, yet different from typical black. Moreover, a closer look reveals a stunning yet subtle herringbone pattern for texture. However, there are plenty other designs I love on the site as well.
The other piece sharing top spot on my wishlist this winter is RECTO’s Vegan Leather Slim Coat. Structured more like a well-cut blazer than the typical loose fit, rounded-shoulder coat. While this may be the quintessential black colour, the gentle sheer of the semi-matte fabric certainly makes it special.
In fact, one could easily mistake it for one of those leather blazers that has taken off on Pinterest. However, this particular piece from Recto features a gentle-flare design that hits mid-calf. Furthermore, it is embellished with unique details like a hidden pocket and waist tie. Honestly, it just screams chic in every possible way. However, if you’ve got a completely opposite vibe, why not try the Eco-Fur Double-Breasted Teddy Coat (shown in the photos above)?
