Why not give Korean bubble hair dye a try? There are various brands of DIY box hair dye in Korea but one of the most popular is the Mise En Scene Hello Bubble. In this article, I will share my honest review of this trendy Korean hair coloring product.

What is Mise En Scene Hello Bubble?

The brand  Mise En Scene is a subsidiary of Amorepacific, a global beauty company that originates in Korea. Mise En Scene means ‘directing’ in French. This brand believes that you can achieve maximum potential by expressing yourself through a change in hairstyle and color. Its products include hair products such as shampoo, conditioner, serum – and of course, Hello Bubble. The Mise En Scene Hello Bubble’s current spokesperson is none other than the members of the Kpop girl group sensation BLACKPINK. They offer a wide variety of colors such as Dark Ash, Brown, Choco, Black, Khaki, Matt, Coral, Mermaid Green, Twinkle Blue, Ballet Pink, Primer, and Vanilla.

How to Apply Mise En Scene Hello Bubble?

Each box of Mise En Scene Hello Bubble includes a sachet of solution, a sachet of secret magic oil, a bottle with a pump, gloves, a cape, and a sachet of hair serum. Before you color your hair, make sure to do a skin patch test 48 hours before. If you experience allergic reactions or other skin irritations, do not use it. For best results, you must read and follow the instructions included in the package. Additionally, you do not need to wash your hair before applying the hair dye bubbles. However, you must shampoo your hair and let it dry completely if you have recently used any hair treatments or styling products.

One of the strongest pros of Mise En Scene Hello Bubble is that it is so easy to apply. You can easily apply it as if you were putting shampoo on your hair. Just pour the sachet of solution and sachet of secret magic oil into the bottle and screw the cap tightly on with the pump. Then, gently shake the bottle 20 times in a circular motion until the content is completely mixed. Note that the mixed solution should be used within 1 hour to achieve results. Leave it on for 30 minutes, and then rinse with lukewarm water until the water becomes clear.

How to Make the Hair Color Last Longer

When using Mise En Scene Hello Bubble, make sure to blow-dry your hair on the first day to help preserve the vibrancy of the color. However, it does not guarantee that your desired shade will appear. It will still significantly depend on the base color of your hair before dyeing. For example, if you want to achieve lighter hair colors such as Coral, Twinkle Blue, and Ballet Pink, you will need to bleach your hair beforehand. If the base color of your hair is black, the Hello Bubble will not have much effect. 

The only downside of using Mise En Scene Hello Bubble to dye your hair is that it doesn’t last very long. Usually, it only lasts for 1 to 2 months if you wash your hair every day. However, you can take steps to extend the life of your dye by regularly using serums. But, the short life span of the dye can be a positive. If you are like me and prefer to change your hair color every season or on special occasions at a minimal cost, then Hello Bubble is for you. 

Where to Buy and How Much

You can purchase Mise En Scene Hello Bubble at most physical and online stores. If you are abroad, Korean shops that deliver internationally, such as Olive Young, often carry the brand. A box of Hello Bubble in Korea costs 8,000 to 10,000 won. If you have shoulder-length hair, 1 box will be good enough, but if your hair is longer, you might need 2 boxes or more.
