Kdrama Filming Locations at Bukchon Hanok Village

Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌한옥마을) which literally means “northern village” is surrounded by Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine. It is a home to hundreds of hanok or the Korean traditional houses. In addition, it is a residential area for high circles during the Joseon Dynasty. Now, it is a street museum in the heart of the city of Seoul with many of these hanok serve as cultural centers, guesthouses, restaurants and tea houses. It provides its visitors an opportunity to learn and immerse themselves in traditional Korean culture. Moreover, it is also a home to various Kdrama filming locations which make it more popular among the Hallyu fans.

Sanggojae

One of the most famous Kdrama filming location in Bukchon Hanok Village is the Sanggojae [상고재]. This house was the featured as the residence of Park Gae-in’s (Son Ye-jin) in the Korean drama “Personal Taste/Perfect Match” in 2010. This drama also starred Lee Min-ho as Jeon Jin-ho.

Bukchon-ro 11-gil

Bukchon-ro 11-gil [북촌로11길] is a central street in Bukchon Hanok Village parallel to Sanggojae. This street was a filming location of several Kdramas such as:

  • Twelve Nights (2018)
  • She Was Pretty (2015)
  • I Need Romance 2 (2012)
  • Queen In-Hyun’s Man (2012)
  • Lovers in Paris (2004)

Luna Touch

Luna Touch [달의그림] is a cravat shop where the raining scene from “Temperature of Love” starring Seo Hyun-jin and Yang Se-jong was filmed.

It was also featured in other Korean dramas such as:

  • Goblin (2016-17)
  • Coffee Prince (2007)

NIN

NIN [닌] is a leather goods store just across the street from Luna Touch. It as ‘Pandora Shop’ in “ True Beauty” starring Moon Ga-young, Cha Eun-woo and Hwang In-yeop.

Howany

Howany [하우애니] is a plant shop and café which was a filming location of the 2019 Kdrama “My First First Love” starring Ji Soo, Jung Chae-yeon and Jung Jin-young.

The Place Seoul

The Kdrama “My First First Love” was also filmed at The Place Seoul [곳]. It is hanok guesthouse with an accessible tea room which was use as Han Song-yi’s (Jung Chae-yeon) family house as seen in episode 1.

Cafe LN

Another filming location which was featured in the Kdrama “My First First Love” is the hanok café – Cafe LN [카페LN].

Samcheong-dong Korea Guesthouse

Samcheong-dong Korea Guesthouse [삼청동 코리아 게스트하우스] is a one of the Kdrama filming locations of hit Kdrama “Hotel Del Luna”. This is where Jang Man-wol (IU) helped Goo Chan-sung (Yeo Jin-goo) when he was cornered by a female ghost.

Other Kdramas filmed in this place are the following:

In addition to these Kdrama filming locations, visitors can also buy merchandise from a shop located inside the village. Bukchon Hanok Village is definitely a must-visit for Kdrama lovers!
