The Special Act for the Establishment of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province was released on an electronic official gazette of the government officially.
Herewith, the designation ‘Jeollabuk-do’ used for 128 years* will be recorded as history, and from January 18, next year, it will be changed into ‘Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province’ for one hundred years, one thousand years in the future.
- As a result of August 04, 1896 Gabo Reformation, the government established 13 province system by dividing five provinces of 8 ones into two ones (south province and north province)
Jeollabuk-do rank, as Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, will be upgraded as the government governed by the Central Government. The Department of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Assistance under Prime Minster will be established to assist Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province preferentially, administratively, and financially.
If Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province carries out a variety of projects, the Central Government will assist the province especially so that it can expand financial stability and autonomy by establishing a seperate account of special accounting for national equal development.
Because this act is released, the jurisdiction of the governor will be expanded, and the act will secure two developmental axes for equilibrium and cohabitation together with Saemangeum Special Act.
