Jeollanam-do Province will establish an export base for agricultural and fishery products in Vietnam, the largest importer of Korean agricultural and fishery products in Southeast Asia.
Jeollanam-do Province Governer Kim Yung-rok, who is visiting Vietnam, signed a business agreement with K&K Global Trading Co., Ltd. (Chairperson Koh Sang-gu), a Korean food distribution company with 148 stores, at the La Vela Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City on the 23rd (local time) to expand exports of agricultural and fishery products of Jeollanam-do.
Under the agreement, K&K Global Trading will open permanent sales outlets handling agricultural and fishery products from Jeollanam-do at the K-Market stores, an affiliate of the company. In addition, it plans to expand popular products to all stores and provide consulting for product development tailored to local demand in Vietnam.
Jeollanam-do Province plans to actively cooperate to open and vitalize permanent sales outlets by supporting various agricultural and fishery food promotional events for kimchi, strawberry, seaweed, and abalone products.
Chairperson Koh Sang-gu said, “Demand for and consumption of Korean food is rapidly increasing, centering on the Vietnamese MZ generation, who have indirectly experienced Korean culture through Korean entertainment and dramas. Therefore, it will be a good opportunity to introduce ‘Namdo food,’ the representative of Korean food, to Vietnam through the excellent agricultural and fishery food sales outlets.”
Governor Kim Yung-rok said, “’Namdo food’ has the depth and variety of taste representing Korean food, and all Koreans acknowledge it. We will make it an advanced base for agricultural and fishery food exports where you can experience proper Korean food and ‘Namdo food.’”
K&K Global Trading is a Korean food distribution company established in Hanoi, Vietnam, in 2006 by Chairperson Koh Sang-gu. It operates 136 stores specializing in Korean food, K-Market, 10 stores specializing in K-Food, and 2 stores specializing in ginseng, and imports and distributes Korean products. It was also selected as one of the top 100 brands in Vietnam in 2017 and one of the top 50 brands with potential for growth in Vietnam.
