With the purpose of bringing joy to travel enthusiasts ㅡ who might not be able to go around the world due to COVID ㅡ, JejuAir set up their own pop-up cafe. Which mimics the inside of a plane! So you can feel as if you were truly flying somewhere. And what is better, is that you will have the chance to try their in-flight meals. In case that you have not travel with this company before.
Without further ado, let us take a look to it!
Prepare for the travel nostalgia
As we mentioned before, this pop up cafe was established with the wish of bringing joy to travelers. Since most of them, are not able to go out of the country due to COVID. That is why the airline really thought about a way they could comfort all of them. And what is better than to role play as if you were in flight?
Because that is what it is. ‘Role play’. Not only due to their decor and interior design. But also because of their staff. Who are real flight attendants. Ready to serve your food.
Also, you get the chance to try the in-flight meals. Is not it awesome?
The downside is that as any other pop up cafe, it is not permanent. In fact, this place will be shut down on July 28.
But do not worry! We have taken some pictures to show you how it looked like! So now, let us take a look to them!
The menu is very reduced, of course. As their goal is to sell in-flight meals.
Atmosphere & decor
I was pretty impressed when I went for the first time. Because I cannot believe that they took this amount of effort in just a pop up cafe.
Due to their decors, I would have thought that this place was meant to be permanent. In fact, I just learned that it is going to close soon.
As any other place, you must register yourself prior entering. Just as a COVID prevention method.
No matter where you look at it, the design is really pretty. You could see that they really took this idea seriously. In other words, JejuAir really cares about the travelers’ feelings. That is why they made everything so realistic. To make you feel as if you were in an airplane!
Of course, they would not miss the chance to promote their JejuAir merchandise. That is why they had some of their products displayed at the counter.
It honestly felt to exciting walking through the ‘gate’. Who had not miss this sensation before?
And once you enter, you need to grab a table as fast as possible! Since this place is very small. Something that was unexpected to me. As in the video I saw before, it did not seem to be this small.
In front of the tables, they have some flight attendant carts. Some as decoration, and others as a return tray cart.
With this, would not you feel as if you were flying? Because I felt like it! Once I saw the staff bringing the food in one of these.
While for some people the price was a bit expensive, for me, it was okay. Taking in consideration the amount of effort they did in establishing this pop out cafe.
Plus the taste of the in-flight meals are far way from not being tasty. You could realize that the airline tried their best to satisfy our palate.
As soon as you order, they give you a boarding pass as a souvenir. So as a small menu. In which you can get a stamp every time you visit. In order to get some free stuff.
They give you a mouth mist as well.
And to start with this experience, the flight attendant brings you the food in a cart.
Which is inside a box. That gives it a premium look, for sure. And just as if you were in a flight, your food is covered by plastic.
Honestly it was really good! The meat was juicy. So as the vegetables. But what I liked the most is that they added Korean chili pepper. To boost up the flavor!
Of course, they gave side dishes with every meal. In this case, it was kimchi and pumpkin puree.
Grilled pork with rice and green onion
Undoubtedly, pork can never taste bad! It was in fact delicious. Not only the texture was good. But also the sesame seed gave a lil crunchy feeling to it. And to make it even better, they serve it with an egg. Which combines perfectly with the taste!
Just as the other meal, this one had side dishes as well. And I must say that I got obsessed with that pumpkin puree!
As for dessert, they gave us a lil pie. Which was tangerine flavored. One of the representative fruits of Jeju!
The good thing is that if you like it a lot, you can buy at the counter a package of it. So you can continue eating them at home.
To refresh, we ordered a yogurt smoothie and a vanilla latte. Both tasted pretty good. However, I think the yogurt smoothie was the best among the two. As it was fresh and sour.
