About Jagalchi Market (๋ถ์ฐ ์๊ฐ์น์์ฅ)

Jagalchi Market is located on the edge of Nampo Port, in the neighborhood of Nampo-dong in Jung-gu and Chungmu-dong, Seo-gu, Busan. It is considered to be the largest seafood market selling both live and dried seafood in South Korea. Different goods are available in the market, such as sea lavers, anchovies, various shellfish, octopus, abalones, other fresh fish, and dried fish. It is a huge market with lots of fresh seafood stores, stalls, and booths along the street. You can buy fish on the first floor and ask to cook and eat it in the restaurants on the second floor for a fee.

Most of the vendors here are women. They are called Jagalchi Ajumma (ajumma=meaning middle-aged or married woman in Korean). Moreover, Busan Jagalchi Festival is also held here in autumn. You can experience various programs with the locals, satisfy yourself with lots of delicious seafood dishes and have fun on other activities of this fantastic festival.

Jagalchi market is reborn as a symbolic landmark of Busan and has become popular not only to Koreans but to foreign tourists as well. Located on the first floor is the fresh fish market. You can buy here live and fresh fish. A hoe center is located on the second floor. Itโs also a restaurant zone and a dried fish zone. On the third floor, there is an exhibition room. This floor also has a Soribada Noraebang (karaoke) plus the Mangeum Restaurant. Dadohae Korean restaurant is on the fourth floor. While on the fifth and sixth floor, you can find the Oase Seafood Buffet and Oase Convention Center, respectively. You can try huge varieties of awesome seafood dishes in the buffet restaurant. On the seventh floor, you will find the Terra guesthouse. And lastly, thereโs a Sky Terrace (Observation Deck) on the rooftop.

By Subway: Take Busan Subway Line 1, then get off at Jagalchi Station and exit via Exit 10. Walk straight, crossing the 1st street on your right, turn right onto the 2nd street (Jagakchi-ro 47beon-gil), and walk straight toward the market. It will take approximately a 5- minute walk to get there. Or, From Jagalchi Station Exit 2, go straight for five minutes until you reach the Chungmu-dong Daybreak Market. Walk along the coast in the direction of the Jagalchi metro station, and you will arrive at the market.
