It is summer here in Korea, and that means the sun, surf, and sand! What better place to go to than Yang Yang, Gangwon-do! A place where locals and travelers alike go during summer. Famous for its beaches and surfing spots, Yang Yang is the place to be! Today, I want to introduce two wonderful spots to relax, rewind and fill your tummies.
Aloha Wave: Yang Yang Poke Restaurant and Bar
First up on the list is Aloha Wave. Well known in the Yang Yang area for its Hawaiian-inspired cuisine. Aloha Wave serves the best poke bowls in the area! Now, for those of you who are not familiar with what โPokeโ is, the term โPokeโ means to slice or cut in Hawaiian. Therefore, it is a cuisine with chunks of raw, marinated fish that is tossed over rice and vegetables. It is finally topped off with flavorful and tantalizing sauces.

Being there made me feel like I was in a whole different country all together. The vibes were screaming summer vacation overseas. The beach view just opposite of us was beautiful and colorful with lots of things to enjoy, such as surfing, tanning and building sandcastles. However, you canโt enjoy the view without sampling their amazing menu!
Our Order at Aloha Wave

Since we were in our holiday modes, we decided to fill our tummies to the brim. We ordered the Salmon Yuja Poke Bowl, Beef Poke Bowl, a Loco Moco plate, and a Margherita Pizza.
The Salmon Yuja Poke bowl was by far my favorite out of the four dishes. It was packed with flavor and my taste buds were swooning in delight. The smoked salmon cubes paired well together with the citrus Yuja sauce! They even had fish roe to add a bit of fun and sensory pleasure to the dish. It was a full-on party in my mouth!
The second best out of the rest had to be the Margherita Pizza. The crust was thin with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. It was not too heavy and tasted like a slice of divinity! The Loco Moco was not too bad either, the meat was soft, and the sauce savory. The beef poke bowl was alright for me, but it did not wow me in any way. It was just so-so in my opinion.
If you ever decide to give Aloha Wave a try, I suggest trying out their Salmon Yuja Poke Bowl and Margherita Pizza! They even have a Salmon Yuja Wasabi bowl for those of you who prefer a bit of a kick.

Road3521: Cafรฉ, Surf Shop, and Pension in Yang Yang

The next spot is a triple threat! Literally. Road3521 is an all-in-one cafรฉ, surf shop, and pension. You are able to stay with them, rent and learn how to surf with them and enjoy some tea or coffee with a beautiful view of the beach! Beautifully decorated to give you that surfing-trip vibe, Road3521 is the place to go if you want to relax and rewind with an ice-cold beer or one of their fragrant coffees.

The cafรฉ was beautiful and the view from the rooftop was breathtaking. They had chairs lined up on the rooftop facing the sea. Just before going up, they even had cushions laid out by the stairs if you want to get comfy on your seats. I grabbed a cushion and sat myself down with my rosemary tea in hand. My body became one with my seat as I enjoyed the relaxing spectacle before me.

Isnโt it like something out of a painting? The fluffy clouds that gradient the blue sky, the white sea foam that rolled onto the sandy beach. It was spectacular. I was so relaxed that I did not even realize that I was almost falling asleep.
If you want a relaxing place to chill, stay and learn to surf, I recommend giving Road3521 a visit!
