Celebrating Halloween in 2021 will no doubt be different to the years gone by because of COVID-19. Just because costume parties and club nights are suspended doesn’t mean we shouldn’t enjoy some spooky fun! Why not visit the Witch’s Kitchen? A Halloween-themed restaurant where the spooky aesthetic covers everything from the walls to the background music and even the food!

The Witch’s Kitchen Franchise
The Witch’s Kitchen is a Halloween-themed franchise restaurant open all-year round. Most branches can be found in and around Seoul, which isn’t ideal for those living in other provinces, though there is one in Cheonan, South Chuncheong.
Seoulites will know that the Harry Potter and Potid cafes are popular this time of year, but nothing beats the Witch’s Kitchen when it comes to Halloween.
First Impressions
I went to the branch on Daehak-ro — you’ll know you’re in the right place when you see jack o’ lanterns and hear scary music! Furthermore, the Daehak-ro branch has 3 floors, 2 of which made up the dining area and the 3rd was an interactive experience filled with Halloween knick-knacks.
One of the first things I noticed was the cool lights above each table made of witch hats! We were seated next to a mysterious cupboard filled with dusty books, creepy puppets and masks. Additionally, each object had a price tag so I guess customers can buy them if they wish…That being said, the prices were so expensive I wonder if it was a joke.
The Atmosphere
The Witch’s Kitchen certainly goes all out with the Halloween decor. Expect spider webs, skeletons, shadows of hanging bodies… You should also tread carefully as the restaurant is quite dark inside and some corners harbour jump scares…
The Food
My friend and I ordered pizza and cream pasta. The food is more expensive than a typical Western food restaurant but you’re paying for the novelty as well. Furthermore, even the food has its own spooky edge like eyeballs or broken fingers in pasta, or ghostly faces in pizza. Don’t forget to take a photo before you dig in!
I cannot vouch for the rest of the menu but the pizza and pasta were tasty, but nothing out-of-the-ordinary. After eating, I recommend heading upstairs for a hunt around the 3rd floor. We found lots of cool hats to try on, as well as other fascinating objects.
Conclusion
Overall, we really enjoyed our visit to the Witch’s Kitchen. I strongly recommend visiting on Halloween this year, in lieu of parties. In fact, why not eat your meal in costume? Alternatively, you can visit any day of the year for a Halloween experience.
