Teachers in Korea are joining labor union. The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions is fighting towards supporting workers in the supplementary education sector: underrepresented foreign and Korean teachers and adjacent staff working in hagwons, public schools, and public after-school programs.

KCTU has been fighting for human rights and workers unions in South Korea since 1995. With this step, it aims to ensure fair labor protections and practices for worker groups mentioned above.
Event for Hagwon Teachers by KCTU

They are organizing a meeting for people working in these sectors, that will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 2 PM at Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Seoul Headquarters (Hawnil-gil 13, Mapo-gu, Seoul).
Program of the Event
The event will be divided into 2 parts. In the first part, education workers can learn how KCTU:
1.has arranged legal advocacy for its union chapter as well as individual members in the past,
2.recognizes the status of underrepresented workers in the education sector
3.plans to provide legal support for education workers and support the formation of a supplementary education teacher union
In the second half, KCTU’s lawyer will be answering questions of the participants.
