It is officially December! And everyone knows what that meansโฆ Christmas is on the way. The winter festive period is a time for celebrating the good things in our life, and what thing do we take for granted more than light. As the winter nights grow longer and the snow clouds draw in, sunshine is in short supply. So why not light up the sea and the night at the Haeundae Light Festival in Busan? The festival will run right through December and into the New Year.
Haeundae Square

At this time of year, Haeundae Square, also known as Gunam-ro, is transformed into a sparkling sea of lights that illuminate the street and the beach.

From the moment you arrive, there is so much to see and do. Venture down the illuminated blue tunnel, take a festive photo in the archway of the 2022 sculpture and make a wish with a note on the wishing tree. Of course, who could miss the giant 18-metre tall Christmas tree at hte end of the square?

Though the trip is an easy one at any time of year, you can follow the path of the magical lights down Gunam-ro to Haeundae Beach, where even more light displays await. As the sun sets around 5:30-6:00pm, you can watch the natural orange light fade and the bright lights of the festival begin!
Haeundae Beach

When you cross the street to the Haeundae beach area, the first thing catches your eye is blue spotlights that dance like waves on the sand. Each LED light is lit in a specific way so that the entire display looks like fluid in motion.

Additionally, there are also artworks that are constructed especially for this festival such as the big red gift box and the little Mermaid Photozone, and more.

Additionally, there are plenty of photozones for you to create the perfect Instagram photo, as well as special artworks such as the big Christmas gift and Little Mermaid.
