With the “Hometown Love Donation” campaign launch in the New Year, Kim Tae-heum, governor of Chungnam province, delivered donations to cities and counties.
Governor Kim visited Chungnam Sejong Regional Headquarters of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation in Naepo New City on January 2 and delivered his personal donations to 14 cities and counties, except for the location of his residence.
He donated a total of KRW 4.2 million, KRW 300,000 per city and county.
Governor Kim urged active participation in the campaign by saying the “Hometown Love Donation campaign is designed to collect personal donations and use them for the residents’ welfare, and regional development and the promotion of the campaign and Chungnam province will be a great driver of the growth of the province.”
The Hometown Love Donation drive was launched to improve financial conditions and support economic revitalization in regions subject to extinction due to decreasing population and the migration of young people in the region to metropolitan cities like SeoulIndividuals who make online or offline donations to hometowns or local government within the limit of KRW 5 million will receive a tax deduction and gifts (30% of the donation amount, up to KRW 1.5 million).
Collected donations will support the socially disadvantaged and youths and promote the residents’ welfare in the culture, art, and health sectors.
To send donations online, membership should be registered on the website of the “Hometown Love Donation” (https://ilovegohyang.go.kr/),” and procedures, such as the selection of city and county, entry of giver address, and payment should be completed.
As for gifts, donation points will be offered, and givers should select gift items on the website of local governments, to which donations will be sent.
For offline application, applicants can visit nearby branches of NH Nonghyup with their ID card and fill out the donation form and consent documents and make a donation.
To ensure the successful implementation of the Hometown Love Donation campaign, the Chungnam provincial government developed gift items and commissioned a marketing strategy research service.
Eleven gift items include premium fresh ginseng sets, rice packs from 15 cities and counties, traditional liquor packs, salted fish packs, fruit wine, sweet laver, 6-piece garlic, Korean beef sets, 8 kinds of agricultural products, red ginseng extract, mud products, and seasoned raw crab.
