Gamcheon Culture & History Village

Gamnae Café at Gamcheon Culture Village in Busan

If you are planning to explore Korea’s Manchu Picchu in Busan famously known as the Gamcheon Culture Village, you must prepare for a lot of walk. Approximately, you will need at least 3 hours to roam around the village and go up and down its steep stairs and twisting alleys. By doing so, you will definitely need to sit for a while to relax or dine in to regain your energy. Good thing there are several restaurants and coffee sops located inside the village where you can have a meal, grab a snack or sip your favorite coffee. One of those is the Gamnae Café.

Gamnae Café

Gamnae Café (감내까페) is another business managed by the village Residents’ Council. When the Gamcheon Village was renovated in 2009 by the Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, it was converted into a cultural hub with a public art-themed renovation. They did the renovation with the help of its residents and local artists which resulted to recognitions from people within Korea and from all over the world. Indeed, this village is a must-visit place when you go to Korea. The village Residents’ Council run several businesses, workshops and other activities in the village and its proceeds are used for local projects in the village. Therefore, similar to Gamnae Restaurant, its proceeds are used for local projects in the village.
