If you’re an art enthusiast, you will definitely love the art exhibitions held at DDP. There are a few paid exhibitions, but there are many free exhibitions at the DDP as well. The artwork displayed at these exhibitions is just so immaculate and interesting that you would be surprised that some of the are free. It’s the best place for art lovers that are currently in Seoul. What are you waiting for? Go visit them today at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
Tickets

As I said earlier, there are some free exhibitions at the DDP. In order to be able to get the tickets for free, you have to book the tickets online through Naver. It is really easy, just search for the exhibition on Naver and book it by choosing the time and exhibition.
Once you are done booking, your ticket will be issued straight away. You will receive information such as the hall number. Make sure to get there at least 15 mins before your entrance time. You will not be let in if you miss your time slot.
Once you reach the hall you will have to line up before you enter. Once it is your time to enter, there will be someone to escort everyone to the entrance. The last time I went, the person spoke English. So, don’t worry if you’re not that good at Korean. You just have to show your ticket on your phone and you’ll be let in.
The Exhibition
Throughout the exhibition there will be someone explaining all the works and when they were created. This part is only in Korean, but I found the explanations to be pretty simple. You’ll still be able to understand all the explanations if you understand a bit of Korean. The artworks were all very unique and interesting as each of them had its own story. It was a very modern showcase with so many beautiful lights and displays of colors on led screens. It was really worth it, especially because it is free. If you like more modern art, I am sure you will love this exhibition.

The free exhibition that I went to is called Backpacking into the universe. It will be ongoing until January 29, 2023. However, if you miss this exhibition, don’t worry. There are always free exhibitions at the DDP. For a full list of current exhibitions, Click Here.

Things to do Nearby
Since the DDP itself is massive, there are so many things you can do nearby. You can just walk around and look for some food inside the buildings. There are a few digital maps in some places around the plaza. With these maps, you can find restaurants that you like.
You can also visit the night market that is open during the evening. I didn’t go there because I did not have enough time. However, from what I saw when I passed by, there were a lot of people who seemed to enjoy walking around the market. They sold a lot of different things like hair accessories and even small bags. They also had a few souvenirs that looked pretty cute.
If you go out of the DDP and cross the road, there are many different Korean restaurants and street food as well. So, you can search for some restaurants on Naver and go there to eat as well. There is also a very famous cafe at DDP as well but it is almost always filled with people so you might not be able to go there. But it has great reviews online, so you should try it if there are seats.
Location
DDP is located in Dongdaemun and since the plaza is a very well-known landmark, you will definitely find it easily. Make sure you check the exhibition hall number on your ticket and just follow the signboards to find the hall.
