On the afternoon of March 16, 2023, some very cute passengers arrived at Jeju International Airport. 18 Dogs arrived at the airport accompanied by their owners. It was a specially charted flight, specifically for those traveling with dogs.
It was the first flight of its kind in the country. The flight allowed passengers to sit in regular seats with their pets. Normally dogs and other pets must be transported as cargo, if airlines allow them at all. Most dogs are transported to Jeju by ferry. The chartering of this flight marks changing ideas about pet ownership here in South Korea.
