Family-Run Cafe Near Seoul Station: Cafe GIO

Cafe Gio in Seoul is one nice pit stop around Seoul Station for some freshly baked goods with a nice coffee. This small cafe run by a local family is always a welcoming place to visit while waiting for your train.

Cafe GIO Feels Like Family

I found Cafe GIO through a search on Kakao Maps. Now, this has become one of those places where I take a rest before taking off on adventures from Seoul Station. This place surprised me because, although it is a small establishment, it had some great reviews on the app. And, I soon found why

Inside the cafe, it was spacious and had a nice homey feeling, which came as no surprise once I found the family who owns it inside. The barista, and owner, welcomed us and his wife and kid were also there enjoying some coffee. Another thing that I noticed was that they were also selling clothes at the cafe. Although a little strange, I understood that this is part of the wife’s business. The entire family was very friendly and wanted to know more about where I was from and my culture. Overall, I felt extremely welcomed at this cafe.

As for the cafe itself, the decorations were very cute and cozy. And, the best part was the desserts! They had a nice selection that I couldn’t wait to try!

The Menu

As a cafe, Cafe GIO has some great selections of drinks. They have coffee, tea, non-caffeinated beverages, and other drinks. However, I am 100% sure that his main focus is on desserts!

I wanted to bring some desserts to a friend back home. However, there were so many options, I actually had a problem choosing. There were many options, from cookies to madeleines and cakes. It felt like an impossible task to choose just one. After a lot of thinking, I ended up choosing a cookie that was big and looked tasty.

As for the beverages, I saw that they had a price range from 3,500 Won to 5,500 Won. The dessert prices are different depending on what are you getting, but keep in mind that they also sell large birthday cakes!

Other than this, they also have a special menu with sandwiches and even lunch options that includes pasta and beer. The lunch menu is around 9,500 Won while ready-made sandwich sets are from 4,800 Won to 12,000 Won.

Cafe Gio from the outside looks like it will be nothing special, but it gave me a great feeling at the end of my trip, before taking the train back home. Their desserts were delicious and if you want to spend some time at a cute cafe close to the station, this place definitely will have a space for you!
