I finally decided that it was time to face my fear of heights head-on. With some courage, I signed up to take a 123-meter swan dive a Daegu Eworld’s Sky Jump. I faced my biggest fear and got over it. With safety equipment and trusted coaches, the ten-second jump changed my life. I was able to free my mind from fear and appreciate the beautiful view as a fell 77 floors.
Before the sky jump, I had to go through all of the proper safety preparations. The staff explained all of the procedures I would have to follow and the equipment I would have to use to remain safe.
They explained that the security equipment was designed to make sure you do not fall too fast. Additionally, the cable attached to your body is designed and regularly tested to ensure it won’t break. The sky jump is different from bungee jumping and is considered safer. The caples are H-shaped, with the person attached to the center cable. As a result, you do not get the same rebound effect as in normal bungee jumping.
And with that, I got suited up in my protective gear. I wore a jumpsuit over my clothes and a harness. The harness wrapped around my waist and thighs. Then, it went over my shoulders.
There was a person waiting for me both at the top and the bottom. The person at the bottom waits to help you undo your gear and make sure you are ok once your sky jump has concluded.
The scariest moment is when you are about to jump. I was terrified. I had to muster up a lot of courage to go through with it. Knowing about the safety measures helped, but I was still scared.
As I was jumping I felt a rush of adrenile at first. Then, I began to look around and it was beautiful! My fear disappeared.
When I came to the ground, I felt a little bit empty. In fact, I was enjoying the moment and was a bit sad that it had passed. I also felt triumphant and refreshed like I had just come out of a sauna.
Once I had a moment to collect myself. They made sure I was ok, and I was unhooked from the sky jump. Then, I received a certificate with my name on it as a souvenir. It was such a cool weekend experience.
Besides the sky jump, I also had access to the observatory zone where I took beautiful pictures of the sunset for my intagram.
The Sky Jump is located on 77th floor in 83 Tower in Daegu. It is also and observatory zone.
The price ticket is 50,000 won per person and 90,000 won for couples. If you buy it on Naver and pay using Naver wallet, the price will be lower. I used Naver to buy the ticket and it cost 45,000 per person and 80,000 won for couples.
The ticket includes access to the observatory zone as well as the sky jump. However, the actual price the whole trip ended up being around 100,000 won because Ewold itself also has an entrance fee.
Overall, it was a little bit pricy since you also have to pay an E world entrance fee. However, if you are looking for a gateway to extreme sport experiences, or looking to get over your fear of height like I was, it is a great option.
