We have all been in situations where our makeup smudges into our masks and completely destroys our look. Such a situation had led many to seek face mask proof makeup. In this article, I will introduce you to life-saving Korean products that are smudge-proof and able to survive a day of face mask-wearing.
First thing first, you have to prepare your skin by letting your moisturizer sit before applying sunscreen (yes this step is important even if you wear a face mask).
Once everything has time to get absorbed and set in, you can go ahead and apply your foundation. I recommend using a good face primer to ensure that your makeup lasts longer. As it is winter, condensation can make our faces even more oily. I suggest using a Mattifying primer such as the mattifying Innisfree No Sebum Blur Primer.
Now for foundation, many Korean brands have released new long-lasting cushion foundations that are smudge-proof.
Clinically tested to be sweat and condensation proof AND effective in controlling excess sebum, this foundation also claims to last for 12 hours. It contains SPF and UV protection and is waterproof.
The cushion is filled with great ingredients for skin including Jeju mineral powder and green tea.
The brand describes this formula as “clean as the clear sea”, and it’s true. The product is free of 8 additives with a shortlist of ingredients. It is also non-comedogenic which makes it perfect for the trouble-prone and acne-prone skin.
As it is a compact cushion, you can take it around with you and fix your makeup throughout the day without worrying about it smudging on your mask.
I have personally used Innisfree’s cushions and I think they have a flawless finish with decent coverage. As my skin tends to get oily, I am delighted to see Innisfree offering this product. Plus, it has SPF!
The one and only cushion with the face of Blackpink Lisa. Besides being endorsed by a K-pop star, this brand’s cushions are known for being long-lasting with a flawless finish.
This foundation, which is weightless and has a semi-matte texture, promises to provide the look of smooth and even skin without being sticky. You can watch the video below to see what ‘Soo Beauty’ has to say about the product!
I personally recommend this one if you have light skin or prefer a lighter look. Unfortunately, the brand’s color palette isn’t varied so if you want a darker shade perhaps Innisfree is a better option.
If you want to stop at the foundation, you are safe with our smudge-proof recommendations. But why not take it up a notch and lock the whole thing with a setting spray or powder.
My friend introduced me to this little gem, a makeup setting spray that you can fin in Olive Young. It does a decent job at setting your makeup on all day. It costs around 16,000Won for 75ml at Olive Young.
Now for the lipsticks! I kind of gave up on lipstick at the beginning of the pandemic as it always ends up smudging on my mask and in a short time, nothing is left on my lips. Luckily, I came across a Tiktok talking about the new Etude House Fixing tint which is smudge-proof and long-lasting.
Although it quickly sold out online abroad, you can still find it in Olive Young.
The lipstick has so many beautiful shades making it hard to choose. As you apply it, it sets in less than a minute, leaving you with a matte finish. It is far from being dry or velvety, Etude house calls it the Hydro-matte texture~ I love its light feel.
You can buy it from Olive Young or in stores at Etude House.
I hope you enjoyed my recommendations! Keep your makeup flawless and stay safe with your face mask ON~
