Juknokwon Bamboo forest also known as Damyang’s Bamboo Garden is located near Damyang City, Jeollanam-do, South Korea which features the beautiful unique calming greenery of Bamboo Forest. The specialty features are a pavilion, waterfalls, hiking trials, experiencing Hanok Cafes and themed parks.

About Juknokwon

Juknokwon is a forest that was established in May 2003 and consists of bamboo forest which expands for approximately 310,000m². Welcoming about 1.3 million visitors per year, this major tourist site of Damyang can often be seen in movies, dramas, and other television programs.

The forest is divided into 8 different themes, and visitors can see various bamboo-related works at the digital art museum and see the history and culture of Damyang at the Siga Culture Village. Near Juknokwon there are amazing restaurants that are famous for rice cooked and served in bamboo tubes.
Damyang Metasequoia- lined Road

The metasequoia trees are one of the popular tourist attraction places and a must-visit. The path is filled with beautiful metasequoia trees located in Damyang and 5 minutes drive from Juknokwon as it covers the entire Metasequoia Road with tall metasequoia trees with lofty heights. During the Summer seasons, the trees give the autumn vibes as they start becoming greener, and experiencing the falling of leaves gives a calming vibe with a cool breeze blowing the leaves.
Experience Shiga Culture Village

Shiga Culture Village where we can experience the traditional Hanok built during the Joseon Dynasty. We can experience Korean history during Joseon Dynasty. The whole place is built to experience the traditional Korean Cultures and beautiful gardens and pavilions. Pavilions such as Myeonangjeong and Songgangjeong, Woosongdang, a sound training center, Jukro tea room, and Hanok experience center are built in one place. These places are built to experience the history and cultures of Damyang and get to know more about the Korean Literature and Lyric Literature poets. The traditional Hanok Village gives traditional vibes to understand get more deep knowledge of Korean history.
Traditional Hanok Café
After a long visit throughout the Juknokwon Bamboo Forest, we want to rest and get some refreshments. So we can halt at Hanok Café to enjoy traditional tea and coffee.

Chuwoldang Hanok Café
Chuwoldong Hanok Café is located in Shiga Culture Village where we can enjoy traditional Korean Tea, Coffee, and organic bakery made with freshly roasted aromatic coffee beans produced by the Hanok café using traditional bamboo methods forest.
Bonghwangru Observatory Café
This café is located on the 1st floor of Bonghwangru which means Observation structure. This café has been built in a very beautiful location where we can see natural beauty scenery overview of Damyang City.
Must try Foods and Delicacies
When we are at Damyang we must try various Damyang traditional foods cooked by using bamboo sticks. There are various dishes to experience such as Bamboo Rice which are made by Rice, Jujube, chestnuts; Bamboo shoot dish which contains rich in fiber and vitamin C and many more various dishes we can explore at Damyang Restaurant. A must-try is Bibim-guksu Noodles in which various medicinal herbs are added to give a traditional taste. Tteokgalbi is one of these specialty dishes and it’s one of the most delicious dishes.
Damyang Bamboo Festival
This is the only festival held in Korea with bamboo materials and it represents the traditional festival of Damyang. Damyang festival takes place annually in May to celebrate the beauty and value of Damyang’s natural Bamboo forest. At this festival, we can experience various educational programs where we can learn practically open for tourists. Tourists can experience the local specialties connections. Even though many events are also held with souvenir distributions. Everyone gathers to delight and celebrate the joy of beautiful Bamboo Trees and Forest on auspicious occasions.
